The season has not yet started but we already have posts on 'How cheap things are' and you can eat and drink all night for nothing more than a few quid! Well we keep shooting ourselves in the foot because if we constantly remind those in BG that things are cheap what do you think they will do? I've been going to BG since 1989 and boy I've seen some changes, but over the last few years prices have increased at a phenominal rate. Taxi prices which are now more expensive than at home is one example, hot wine on mountain from wooden shack in plastic cup 7 lev, I could go on. Yes there is still value to still be found but please stop shouting out about how cheap things are because otherwise we'll are be skiing in the Alps for the same costs!
I was pretty shocked by the prices on the top of the mountain in Borovets this year, especially given the atrocious quality of food. Still, when you're hungry even bad chicken soup feels good.
specifically in this instance, by using the remains of the roasted chicken from the day before boiled with noodles. I swear there were bite marks on the meat too...

I'm sure hotel, food & beer prices etc are not decided by a couple of comments on this board.
I would rather walk than use a taxi in Eastern Europe as I don't like giving money to the men in black coats. If you have to ...

Agree with the taxi price Trevor. I first went to Pamporovo in 98 and was paying around 7 lev to get down to the lifts. Two years ago it was around 15lev!!!
Plenty of bargains to be had in Bansko, with the SKIDVD crew in march we found a cracking little bar/cafe that many people would turn their nose up at. The prices for food and drink were just ridiculously cheap and the food was bloody good!!!
