High pressure stuck firm

The recent snow is set to be shortlived. An area of High pressure is set to stick firm over Europe for the next 4 days at least. This high pressure isn't going anywhere fast and if anything will continue to develop further bringing about some very high pressure readings indeed by the end of the week.Cold yes. Snow forget it after tomorrow.Perhaps the new year will bring a change. Looking out of my window there doesn't seem much cause for optimism. I'll be buying solar panels and a electricity ...

I'll be buying solar panels and a electricity generating windmill at this rate!!!! This global warming suddenly seems real.Crying

re: High pressure stuck firm

At least the very cold temperatures will allow the resorts with snow cannons to make snow to top up the current snow base. Unfortunately, some resorts either don't have any cannons or only have a few which will means that whatever snow they currently have will get worn down very quickly by the ski tourists this weekend and into next week. Fingers crossed that bloody HP gets shifted so that some really big snow dumps can prevail!! Crying

If you know how to read/interpret GFS models and other european weather charts you will see the great big HP we are referring to. The good news is that it will bring cold temperatures but zero snowfall which is why we all need to pray that the snow falling today, tonight and tomorrow is going to be a good amount to last.
