Right guys, need advice!!! Been using my 195's for the past 12 years and hired a pair of carvers on my last day last year on advice of an instructor. Never took to them, but may have been due to lack of time to get used to them, or the fact they may have just been crap. So.....is hire equipment standards good enough as I've paid for full pack again anyway, or should I invest in a new pair of carvers? Bobby, Boon, anyone, advice please? Cheers!!!
I have my own skis and have looked after them extremely well however this year in Boro, they have come back well scratched. Probs gonna have to have full stone grind to get them back (if poss)
I had paid for full ski pack, as fall back for ski lessons/group really. I really should have used their skis. If youve booked with Hunters the skis are very very good in any case. This would als allow you to try out a couple of different types to see which is best to buy.

Bought some new skis in Boro this year. Went from 170 Viper S to 153 Elan carver Ski on Bobbys advice. Took some getting used to but glad I changed as the longer skis were harder to work and more tiring on the legs. However with the conditions in boro this year I would not recommend you do the same as me and use new skis as mine were pretty scratched by the end.

Some good advice guys, thanks. Really like the thought of getting a new set but it would kill me to ruin them I suppose!! Do you mind me asking how much you paid DBut? Would it be worth buying over there?
I'm in a similar situation, I was going to take my board to boro. But with the conditions I think I will just hire.
the quality wont be no where near as good, but It is £60 to take it with easy jet. Then a week of iffy condition it will need a service so I would think so manometer £30 odd pound there. Then there is also the risk of doing some deep damage. so not worth it this year
I skied on my own ski's in Jan and will be doing again in Feb, but with the conditions as they were was just careful where I skied. Didn't have any probs really some very minor scratch's nothing a decent wax wont sort Ive had worse with great conditions off piste. A full service in Boro at a decent place is £15. I agree its a pain with the flight costs especially easy jet but there you go.
I skied straights till 3/4 years ago it takes a bit of getting used to on carvers ...

I skied straights till 3/4 years ago it takes a bit of getting used to on carvers but once you do its a doddle. Also if your going to buy some be aware there are different sorts for off/on piste and anywhere in between.
Kelvin … my (once was) wife had skied on 180's she's 5' 1" … went to carvers about 5 years ago … moaned, complained, got used to em and loved them, then went shorter and twin tips … absolutely loved them … so go with the new gear and enjoy it …..
On the hire or take yer own front …. I'll always take my own coz I have it … If I only boarded in Boro, Id hire (apart from the last 2 years which have been powder heaven) Not being a board snob coz theres loads at Boro to entertain yourself ...

On the hire or take yer own front …. I'll always take my own coz I have it … If I only boarded in Boro, Id hire (apart from the last 2 years which have been powder heaven) Not being a board snob coz theres loads at Boro to entertain yourself with if the snow is good … I've had one of my best holidays in Switzerland on a locals hill with only 7 runs, but Borovets isn't very high, and stones and rocks can wreak new gear … so my thoughts are …. hire for Borovets .. ski's are ski's and snow boards are snow boards … until you get really really good … and I'm not in that category yet, and at my age never will be
Thankyou for listening …. its friday night … and I'm not in the pub
