Hotel Markony in Pamps

Hi all,
Anyone stayed in the Hotel Markony, any comments ?
We are going on 19th March from E.Midlands. First time skiing, with kids. No idea what to expect, will we have a good time ?
See ya

The Markony is right by the slopes - it's away from the centre of town, but great to be able to get up in the morning and not have to worry about the ski bus.

Great place for Apres Ski too.

You couldn't have picked a better place to take the kids. Pamporovo is supposed to be the best ski resort for learning. The instructors are excellent and the snow when we left on the 24th Feb was at a 15 year high. It snowed 2.5 metres during our stay. I took my wife and taught her to ski and we were that impressed we are going back next year with our kids and putting them in one of the schools.

Have a great time.

I agree with Judith, The Markony is spot on, however, if you are travelling with Balkan holidays, you will be using ski depot 1, which is a bit away, however if you are using the markony ski school, you will have a ball, some friends used it when I was there, and had nothing but praise!

We went for the first time with our three kids last month and had a fantastic time.

The snow and the scenery were breathtaking...lunches on the slopes were good too. However, soft drinks are quite expensive (4 Leva for a coke - £1.50)...so we took our own drinks in a rucksack. Sounds a bit tight, but with three thirsty kids it saved us a fortune! A 2.5litre bottle of coke was only £2 in a shop, so we dacanted this into smaller bottles each day.

re: Hotel Markony in Pamps

Hi Ally,

We're booked at the Markony - do all skiers now have to travel to another ski depot for ski school? Our friends are travelling with Crystal and I wondered if we would all be meeting at the same place.

Also, is it possible to take the chair lift up from the Markony area to the mid station and ski down to the location of ski depot 2?

Thanks for your assistance.

Gibbo,
My son (16) and I are on the same flight but staying at the Murgavets. It'll be perfect for you unless you are with Balkan then it will be a bit daft going to Ski Depot 1 when you are right next to ski depot 2.

Liz,
Only if you are booked with Balkan do you use ski depot 1 which is probably about 5 mins in a taxi from Markony's (I don't know about a bus). Unless you are booked with Balkan and are snowboarding then you use ski depot 2.Yes Liz you can get the lift up to mid ...

If your skis are in depot 1 I suppose you could even get the lift to mid station and the lift down to 1.

Rose,

Is that you the snowboarding Granny ? If so how did it go ?
