I have been to Borovets several times but am taking my 4 children for the 1st time on 7th February. The skiing is great - we are staying at the Rila which I find excellent. I have always gone half board and me and my husband have never spent more than £150 between us for the week ( and we have had a good night every night for that !).

re: Back from Boro/Hotel Olymp

Hello!

Is the Olymp as bad as some scaremongers have made it out to be?!

What are the rooms like?

Is the food as bad as it sounds?

What is security like? Any breakins?

Thanks for your help!!

re: Back from Boro/Hotel Olymp

Hello - Again!

Sorry, almost forgot - can you store ski's in the Olymp?

I know a lot of people have been complaining that have to take ski's back to hire shop - Is this the case at the Olymp?

Help appreciated

Thanks

Russell.
The room was small with 2 twin beds, a table and 1 chair. The bathroom was also small and when you had a shower you pull a shower curtain across the shower area which includes the toilet so you have to remember to move the toilet roll before having a shower!
The room was very basic but very warm and clean. the rooms are cleaned every day and we had clean linen and towels 3 times in a week.
It was comfortable enough as long as you go prepared and don't expect 5 star luxury ...

Breakfasts were good with a buffet of fruit, yogurt, cheese, ham, bread, jam etc and also a warm section of scrambled eggs, sausages etc.
We never ate in the hotel in the evening as it is so cheap to eat out and nice to try different restaurants. We ate at the Skylark restauarant and had beer, bottle of wine and 3 course meal for 2 persons for under 15 pounds so no reason to dine in!!
Any more queries please contact us and we will try to help.

re: Back from Boro/Hotel Olymp

We had a family of 4 in our ski school and they lived very cheaply as they ate in their hotel each evening.
We spent under 10 pounds at lunchtime for decent food and drinks for 2 adults.
there are also other incidentals like ski waxing 5 levs on alternate days - 10 pounds for the end of school video!
We ate out every lunch and evening for a week and had plenty to drink but did not buy any clothes etc and spent approx 300 pounds including taxi fares each day to Olymp hotel and trip to Sofia.

re: Back from Boro/Hotel Olymp

Please see our previous response as to the hotel. We used a safety deposit box for 30 levs for one week and were not aware of any break ins although our door appeared to have been forced at some time previously.
Summary of hotel - very basic rooms but clean and comfortable. Snack bar good for drinks and bite to eat - very cheap.

re: Back from Boro/Hotel Olymp

Although we never did - you can store skis at the hotel for a small fee. you can ski dorect from hotel on blue slope down to main lift area.
