Being a Rep in Pamporovo, I am well informed of the situation at the Hotel Pamporovo. I can confirm that the hotel this week is grossly overbooked. It is true strangers have been asked to share rooms together. The problem has originated from pure greed from the hoteliers.

The Victoria Group being owned by one of the top Mafia guys in the country do not care about service. They have know for weeks that the hotel was overbooked but only advise the tour operators on the day of arrival. This resulted in the tour operators not being able to make alternative arrangements. As this is the busiest week of the season, all other hotels are full, therefore all clients had to be squeezed in the hotel, thus strangers having to share. I am sure this will be confirmed when the tourists return home and can post messages on this board.
I am due to fly from Manchester to Plovdiv on Sunday 16th January.
My travel agent is Thomas Cook, the tour operator is Balkan Holidays.
I have been into Thomas Cook this lunchtime and made them phone Balkan to cinfirm that I will not have a problem with the rooms that I have book.

Okay, here goes another update.
My concern is that out of the three single rooms that are available at the Pamporovo, I have booked two of them along with a twin. No other combination works for us due to who is travelling.
Balkan admits that there has been problems, but that all of there clients eventually got the rooms they'd booked. (Not sure that I believe this, maybe they got rooms they could live with?)
Anyway, they assure me all will be well from next weekend.
Thomas Cook have added a note to my booking about my concerns. They've added the name of the person spoken to at Balkan and when this was.
I have a printout of this to take with me as backup.
I think I have done all I can before travelling to ensure that I have the best chance of getting the rooms I booked.
Will be interesting to see what happens this weekend though.
Any posts from anyone travelling this coming weekend would be much appreciated.
