Just wondering if anybody had stayed at the Hotel Perun in Bansko before and whether or not it was any good? Also whats the nightlife like in Bansko, any better than in Pamporovo?
I hear the Perun is very good. 2 friends of mine from this board stayed there last season and said so. Kim may well reply herself to this posting. Re nightlife I haven't been to Pamps but Bansko is a real town and not a purpose built resort. There are plenty of bars and restuarants and night clubs but I believe it may be lower key apres ski than Pamps or Boro. Personally I prefer that but it does depend on what you're looking for.
Went there in March this year- excellent hotel. We can thoroughly recommend it. When are you going?
Have you tried the search facility on this site?
If you just put Hotel Perun in box it should bring up all previous reports.
Hi there - as Val rightly predicted, here I am with my posting
I went to the Perun in March this year. When I booked there was only an 'artists impression' in the brochure but it looked and sounded rather splendid. When I got there I was thrilled to see it was just as I hoped, if not better

We had a super size room, the facilities were excellent ie a fantasticly VERY HOT outside swimming pool and also an outside jacuzzi - it was wonderful getting in that when it was a chilly snowdy day outside - a strange sensation! Indoor poor lovely and my son and I seemed to have this to ourselves most nights. I personally could not fault the food - a lot of people on here complain about BG food being lukewarm etc. As I explained before my young son takes forever to eat (so do I) so we are probably used to luke warm food but I did not particularly notice this as a trait of the Perun. The waiting staff were friendly and courteous (though I did find the reception staff a little 'curt' at times).
The Perun has a shuttle bus which runs to and from the gondola (only about a few minutes ride but saves the walk although my son and I often wandered back in the evening at our leisure. This bus runs very frequently so no problem there.
There are lots of other facilities - in fact I post below the link to the Perun website (if you have not already seen this) which will give you more detail.
As for Bansko as a resort - I have not been to Pamps so cannot comment on the comparison but I have been to lots of other resorts. As Val said above, it is a REAL TOWN not a commercially purpose built resort so I think it has a real sense of character etc. I personally did not venture out to pubs, clubs (and this suited me fine) because I was on my own with my 5 yr old so we tended to stay in the hotel, use the pool in the evenings etc then I would just sit and relax in the hotel room watching TV and enjoying a few bevvies (as one does)
I would highly recommend it and I can tell you that I have in fact just re-booked to return to the Perun at the same time next March - and have even requested the same room number
