Chris

As Mac has already stated Katies just over the road from the Samokov does very good food and not badly priced, although we didn't have their breakfasts apparently they are just as good as their Steak dinners! This is were we ended up after the disappointing Samakov meals. You will have a great time skiing if the white stuff falls from the skies!!

Hey Chris,

If you find the food is crap then theres a great little place pretty much opposite called Sunny's which is really good and they're really friendly!! (thats if its still there its a couple of years since i went but will be returning in jan)

Hope you have a fab time!!

Go with an open mind about the food, its not fantastic but its ok.
The Gala dinner is helped down with the free booze they provide, but it was not great last year.
Fireworks at midnight were however amazing.
You never know we might bump into you, we are going on the 26th to the Samakov again for a week this year.

Hi
I am going on boxing day too, flying from Manchester with hubby and son. Have stayed at the Rila before but 1st time at Samokov.
I have not not booked any ski package this year as i have been poorly and was not sure if i was going to ski or not but if i change my mind when i get there can i just hire skis and get passes daily or will this work out more expensive then getting the full weeks package and just not using it?

I have stayed at 4 different hotels in Borovets, im my experience the food is very similar in all hotels and whilst it is not fantastic it is ok and edible. Breakfasts do tend to be good - sets you up for the day!
