Hotels- Borovets

A party of 18 going to the Hotel Samokov in Borovets at Half Term.

We've paid a lot of dosh through Thomsons , flight supplements, room supplements and supplements for just about everything! Seems a bit of a rip -off but can anyone tell me anything about the place, rooms , food and facilities?

Please tell me it will be worth it!

Friends of ours stayed at the Samokov when we were at the Breza.
Samokov is one of the better hotels, you'll all have a good time I'm sure.
Plenty of things to keep everyone happy from organised day excursions to night-time events.
I especially enjoyed the Ski Jumping / Acrobatics, our (non-skiing) friend went to Rila Monastry and shopping in Sofia and there are enough restaurants/bars to visit 1 per day of your stay and still only get to see 1/2 of them!

When you're there you will find everything is really cheap.
This is my 3rd time to Borovets in 4 years so it can't be so bad, eh!

Samakov food better than the rila drinks more than in the bars on the streets but 1 of the better hotels.
If your conming with kids they will have wonderful time here the adults will too.

We went to Boverets half term 2002 and stayed at the Samokov hotel, the hotel and food were basic.but it's so cheap to eat out we found it not to be a problem,we were a party of 5 adults and 4 teenagers,we had a brilliant time and would definately go back. Word of advice only change your money at the hotels, and if you are a smoker dont buy the chaep cigaretts, they are awful we chucked ours away, if you want cigarettes stick to the duty free at the airport.

re: Hotels- Borovets

you have got one of the two best hotels in borovets, that and the rila are head and shoulders above the rest. you are in a good location right in front of the gondola stationso you won't have to que long in a morning. p.s. don't worry if you have paid a lot for the holiday we paid 500 each last year but only managed to spend 200 cos beer is cheap as chips Booze Booze Booze Booze Booze Booze

re: Hotels- Borovets

Sorry Andy,
but the best hotel all over in Borovez is the Royal, not one of these big castles....
And my oppinion is some of the smaller hotels as the Alpin or the Victoria are much better as the Rila and the Samokov, also the got only three stars....

re: Hotels- Borovets

Thanks for this. Some of us hope to go to Sofia for a day trip so any tips /suggestions would be helpful. Sounds good as long as there's plenty snow.
