re: How busy is Bansko?

Bansko is done beyond repair. It will never be a class resort because it was developed so quickly and now there is a problem actually extending the ski area so the ques will be there for good few seasons at least.
Head to Borovets or with question marks attached -to Pamporovo.Or there are plenty of places to ski around the alps.small and big.

I agree with Smag, although we went in half term so long as you miss the early rush the gondola was never that busy and once on the mountain no real wait. As for the old town we loved it. Went to Andorra the year before and there was nowhere to eat that was decent.

Yes there is alot of building work going on but the town has to make some money somehow.

re: How busy is Bansko?

Ray,

No, I will probably not be skiing in Bankso this year. I have booked two weeks in Japan (powder heaven!) and will see how things are in Bansko by March and perhaps book a weeks skiing in March. However, things will need to be vastly improved from last season for me to go back.

Hows it been allowed to get like that?

re: How busy is Bansko?

Hi,
not bad to turn to figures. Compare all well known Alpine resorts with Bansko and come back. Well, it's not yet some of the the Three valleys well known places, but you don't pay 10EUR for a pint of beer, don't you. I feel some of those who used to go there previously may try Bansko. Affordability matters! Many are envious of Bansko - the natural resource is huge. And development of new 30-50 km. ski runs is imminent.

re: How busy is Bansko?

Thanks for all your replies. Japan sounds awesome Horster. Be good if they open up more runs. Will hopefully help ease any likely queues

re: How busy is Bansko?

Where did you read that John? Everything that I have read points to the fact that the chances are very slim that any extension will be permitted as the mountains around Bansko are environmentally protected and strongly enfornced by the environmental authorities.

re: How busy is Bansko?

There will be no further developing to enlarge the ski area in Bansko for the future.maybe some more lifts around the existing runs that is all.The place up there is a protected area and is due to be included by September as a protected area included in the Natura 2000- demands EU.
Not anymore cheap place.more or less the same cost if you dont drink alcohol as alpine rewsorts.
In actual fact the cost of a lift pass compare with that of an average alpine resort is a very poor taken ...
