100% on the brace Wash ... a mate of mine wears one whilst snowboarding ... decent one with the metal ribs either side to stop twisting.

Steve Gee has got it, watch the vids, read the books, take the courses... it works Wink Warren Miller, awesome vids (or in my case, tapes) and Greg Stump movies... just to get in the mood, still watching 20 yr old films, just as awesome today as they were years ago....

Wash.. and old adage that i used to use when i was instructing.. 'if you can climb a set of stairs, you can ski'

Braces have raised differant views, at the end of the day they will never replace the joint, but they will offer an increase in your confidence over your joints, whether you decide for a full support brace with hinges, or just an elasticated support, they also allow for heat retention.. My suggestion would be to try to get some practice whilst using either, a beginner course perhaps at a snow dome or ski slope ? and 'could be fitter' ? i think you are answering you own question there Wink

Get a good brace with side supports. I use one all the time.If you look on the Physioroom site on the internet you will find a good selection of braces. I would suggest you get a wrap around one as they are easy to remove as soon as you finish without having to take your boots of etc. I use a Mueller hinged wrap around which cost about £42.

I agree with Steve
for me pre season fitness involves:
ski training-have proper ski simulator in the garage
also
running on rocks and stones to keep the concentration and quick reaction, quads, biking and a solid program of basically getting even fitter.
Swimming also few times a week for flexability do me fine
and a lot of dreaming about the new season , which is just about to start on the 24th.

Wont need the shoulder brace this year. Been training with Steins instead of pints to build up the strength.
