just another brainless tour company really. If being shepherded from charter flight to bus to accom, getting everything on a plate during your stay then herded onto the buses, flight and home again is your thing then go for it!!
If you want to be a bit more independent you can get bargain flights from wizzair or skyeurope or reasonable ones from czechairlines and sort out you own accom. Will work out about the same cost or cheaper and you won't have a spotty tour rep who thinks they are ...

I've now travelled to Bulgaria with Inghams, Thompson and Balkan Holidays on 3 separate occasions - guess what - I'm travelling with Inghams again this year...
Balkan changed aiport a couple of weeks before hand so flying out for a holiday in Borovets, they flew us to Plovdiv with a 3 hour transfer and arrived in resort at 2.30am
Thompson... don't even start me on that one... it started with them changing the flights by 24 hours, then not allocating rooms as reserved and it went on. ...

I went with Inghams this year, having had to cancel the original holiday, did a late booking and went 6 weeks later than planned, the rep knew that I'd had to change my booking with about 2 weeks notice (due to the death of my dear Mum) and was fantastic.
I've not tried Airtours, or even this site, but I can recommend Inghams very highly.
Wizzair land you at Sofia in the middle of the night so by the time you clear the airport and then get a transfer you will be travelling for most of the night. Not for me! I want to ski the next day not feel half dead from travelling through the night.
You really have not got a clue have you! Lets imaging you landing in Plovdiv (tiny aiport km's from anywhere) aiport at 2am, watching all the tourists being shepherded to their warm busses and departing immediately.
Then there is you desperately searching for a taxi, or even begging the spotty rep for a seat on their coach.
I agree with the consensus that going through a tour operator is the best option. I have lookied into booking everything seperate and it does not work out much cheaper. Also if things go wrong you nobody to fall back on. I have been with Inghams and they were fine. Going with Thompsons this year so fingerscrossed all will go smoothly.
We went with Thomson this year, thought they were really good, had no problems what so ever! Going with Nielson this time, for the simple fact they r cheaper. anyone ever been with Nielson?
Bob you sound like someone who has been around a bit and has a sense of adventure

Sorry Bob but who is flying to Plovdiv?????

Plenty buses leave SOFIA early morning (for less than £3) as well as the numerous taxi companies - quite simple really. As for taking most of the night the journey is ...

Instead of being stuck to the tour companies regimented sat-sat trip with 6 days skiing, no more no less - going DIY allows you to leave midweek, take advantage of skiing on saturday when all the tour companies are doing their transfers and best of all you have the option to spend time in Sofia, Budapest, Bratislava or Prague - all wonderful historic cities where accomodation, food and entertainment are very cheap.
If a 6 day sat-sat ski trip is for you then enjoy
Me - I prefer to ski as much as the time will allow and have a day or two seeing places and meeting other people. Not just other British tourists.
Each to their own I say
By the way do you know if there is an all night bar at Plovdiv airport as I will be stuck there for hours waiting for my cold bus.....
Well, I wonder how many of the tourists on a ski holiday want to have a sightseeing tour of Budapest!
FYI, just incase you choose to visit one of our ski resorts, the cheap bus does not operate during the night when Whizz Air lands, you will be at the mercy of the taxi drivers.
Or you could have a tour of sofia, it's quite nice at that time of nice. You can get your cheap bus in the morning, when all of the sheep have been ski fitted and are on the gondola up the slopes.
Sorry ...

Sorry Plovdiv airport does not have an all night bar, the only cafe closes when the last charter bus leaves the car park! There is a coffee machine though, but don't get the Tea, it's not PG Tips!
