INSURANCE - IMPORTANT!

Reading my insurance details and other policies to check I'm not being duped it seems there is a bit of a flaw. Someone correct me if im wrong but:

Despite having wintersports cover, we are still Personally Liable for any accidents we are found to cause while conducting hazardous sports / activities, i.e. skiing, snowboarding, ski-dooing etc.

Travel insurance covers your rescue and medical cover and personal liability under normal circumstances (except these sports), so if you cause an accident the insurers don't cover you if someone else claims against you.

Its the equivalent of having fully comprehensive motor insurance, without the 3rd party bit.

re: INSURANCE - IMPORTANT!

Some insurances will not cover anyone suing you! usually if you get a cut price or down version of it!

re: INSURANCE - IMPORTANT!

Normally with travel insurance you buy the standard holiday cover and then a premium to cover wintersports. The personal liability in the holiday bit will thaen transfer over to the wintersports supplement.

example on my cover is 2million personal liability on land and on piste cause i paid the supplement

Who's this with mate? Check your policy wording. I've checked my policy and the one linked through this site (boardsure.com Superplus, the best cover available) and they're the same. Its up to £2m personal liability but in the policy wording beyond your benefits page it says:

"Section I - Personal Liability
The underwriter will pay for your legal liability inclusive of all associated legal fees and cost, in total up to the amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits, for any event which relates to an incident caused by you during the trip or one way trip, which results in:
* injury, illness or disease to another person
* loss or damage to property which does not belong to you or any member of your family and is not in your or a member of your family’s custody or control

The underwriter will not pay for the following in addition to the general exclusions, in connection with claims made under Section I:
* the excess as shown in the Schedule of Benefits
* claims arising directly or indirectly from, happening through or in consequence of:
* contractual liability, employers liability, or liability to a member of your family, your travelling companions family or to your travelling companion; or
* animals belonging to you, or in your care, custody or control; or
* wilful, malicious or unlawful acts or the use of firearms; or
* the pursuit of trade, business or profession; or
* ownership or occupation of land or buildings; or
* the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs
* claims arising directly or indirectly from, happening through or in consequence of ownership, possession or use of any vehicle, automobile, aircraft, watercraft, or any mechanically propelled conveyance
* claims for legal fees and costs resulting from any criminal proceedings
* any personal liability claim, which arises directly or indirectly, as a result of you participating in a Category 2 - 4 hazardous sport or leisure activity.

And this is with the snowsports cover included. That basically means they'll pay your medical bills for snowboarding and stuff only.

Nev - I'm with http://www.1stoptravelinsurance.co.uk

They do it online hence so cheap but I found its got pretty good compensation amounts compared to other high street and online travel policies at lower cost.
Plus I have paid a couple more pounds to waive any excess should I make a claim.

Only downside like I say is this personal liability for the hazardous sports...also its invalid if a member of your family or your travelling companion make a claim against you... but I think ...

Would be interesting if you could find out if I'm interpretting this wrong. In any case, the policy cost me £53 for a week and covers 2 people with no excess.
