In Pamps Now

someone appears to have stolen my handle on here judging by another post!!!

We're in pamps now and here is an update: As it snowed about 7 inches on monday the snow today was great. The only thinning part of the green run is when you take off from the mid station and then it isn't for long. All runs seem to be excellent condition with plenty of snow. Someone in our group went off the edge of a blue and landed quite safely in about 3 feet of snow!

We couldn't ski yesterday as winds prevented the lifts from opening and there were several power cuts due to the weather. All is fab now and it's expected to be good for the week.

As for the prices i would say it is safe to say that prices on average have approximately doubled since last year although if you shop around there is a bargain to be had. Some prices remain the same and some are only slightly more expensive.

A pint of Kamenitza is about 4 leva but there is a shop along from the perelik where 2 litres can be bought for 3leva so if you drink it's possibly worth a look!

We'll be heading to Daks later in the week, apparently their prices are still quite good.

Any questions in here for another 20 minutes Very Happy

Hi, there were rumours that there will be more at the weekend but even if there's not you should still have no problems skiing, it is way better than last year when half of the runs were't skiable due to lack of snow... there is loads of the white stuff at the moment.

Haven't stayed in hotel pamporovo but it isn't far from the main resort and all of the reports i've heard from people staying there (this year and last) have been good. Expect the food to be served a bit cooler than we're ...

Expect the food to be served a bit cooler than we're used to, it's the norm, most of the complaints you hear are about food but it's the way it's done, and i personally like to get a feel for the culture. They'll heat it if you ask!

re: In Pamps Now

I wouldn't wear ski boots on bus purely for the small walk down to the pick up point for skis etc take your boot bag and put your trainers in there when you have your boots on. I leave mine under a seat in the balkan room and it's fine. If you're like me and don't want to scratch your boots except if accidentally when skiing then this is the way to do it.

The buses get packed so you may struggle if try to wear them...

Hope this helps Very Happy that's my internet time up now but i'll post ...

re: In Pamps Now

Hi Andy

We have a chalet at Forest Nook 1, but the appartments are at FN3 which is a bit nearer the town centre. It is some way out of town, on the top road to Smolyan (past Cedar Heights, Studenets etc) approx 2km from the town centre. They run a bus to and from the slopes, + lifts into town - best option is to hire one of their Lada Jeeps for the week (25 Euro per day).

re: In Pamps Now

Rach. if your back on here at any point and have been to Daks, can you let me know if there is a guy working there called Billy?? He will have glasses on, be about mid thirties and work behind the bar. He's a good friend of mine from previous years there and just wondering if he is still in the resort, as I might have a little present for him upon my arrival at the start of March, good to hear the prices are not as bad as it would have been believed. Hope you have a great time..
Very Happy Booze
