Sheffield Ski village is just downright dangerous. Worn matting, understaffed, getting run down, erratic watering, wire joints sticking up.
Have been there 6 times in the last 4 weeks as my daughter has been learning to ski and after her final visit tomorrow will not be returning as we are in boro on Sunday. It's ok on the nursery slope for complete beginners and some of the instructor are ok but it need some real investment.

Have seen accidents everytime I've been, 2 of them ambulance cases. If you like living dangerously then give it a go. It could well be good practice for the thin snow, rocks and mud that I think are going to be at lower levels in boro next week. If you can ski at Sheffield you could probably ski on grass!

re: Indoor skiing uk

Xscape at Caslteford WAS ok - till we tried the real thing!! It's expensive and seems to always be busy. You spend most of the time queuing for the lift, then descend in seconds. Also, they've fenced off both sides of the bottom half of the slope for tobogganing, so it's quite narrow and the queue for the lift kind of spills onto the slope making it even narrower. The last time we went, I think we only made 6 runs in the hour we were there - the rest of the time we were queuing!

I have been to Tamworth and Milton keynes. In my opinion Tamworth is good because it has a bend in the main slope, but for snow quality it would have to be Milton keynes xscape. The depth of snow at Milton keynes is fantastic. I have only been in the mornings as on mon wed fri mornings you can ski for three hours at a resonable price both places do this. If you want to check them out out a search on you tube I'm sure you'll find something.

I've been to both with my snowboarding teens and we all prefer Milton Keynes, even though you have to pay for parking there and button lifts instead of moving stairs!
