mikey please calm down a little it was just a question about skis I am a novice asking for advice I respect the fact you are a top skier as are other ppl here so please be nice it was an innocent question ...really it was..if you can suggest a good pair of skis for someone who is learning and has not a lot of money and wants to buy a pair out of season.. that would be good .. yeah?

re: Innocent question about skis

Mikey when the offensive answers are aimed at you I let them slide.

Perhaps as has been suggested you just stop for one minute sneering and condeming people just because they want to ski in Bulgaria and actually use your obvious expertise to help rather than condone people then maybe just maybe people will be nicer to you.

Scapula, dont worry about age mate, i`m 50, its the state of mind, you say you have no ambition to be fast or flash, why not ???? go for it, you obviously have interest and wish to improve, thats ambition Very Happy
You wait, the bug will bite, one week holidays become two, one ski holiday becomes two, you long for the winter, check long range weather, read equipment reports, place webcam links into your favourites, get anxious as the first bits of skiwear appear in TK Max, start thinking `will ...

Cool i know pete, shouldnt rise to it Booze i was still right!!! Wink

Mikey, genrically skiis with a longer turning radius are regarded as racing rather than recreational, i emphasise generic, and im talking current carving style, i didnt deem it necassary to talk about styles of racing, trick skiis, off piste 'planks' ski jumping skiis, big feet mono skiis, telemark, cross country, because the enquiry didnt warrant it.

Try relaxing a bit, dont feel you have to slag BG off at every chance, ...

Try relaxing a bit, dont feel you have to slag BG off at every chance, as we dont slag off of the uk, (though we would have plenty of opportunity), and remeber that the vast majority of people on here are looking forward to their one week on snow, that has probably been planned for a year, and saved up for over that time. Your wingeing is predominately about the country as a whole, and most people will only be in the ski resorts.

As you are obviously wealthy enough to skii all over the world, (though you do have a tendancy to tell porky pies Wink) why not leave the rest of us poor mortals to get on with our sad lives that includes enjoying our skiing, thank you and good night! Booze Booze Booze Booze Cool

re: Innocent question about skis

Hi, Well unlike some of the others on this site i,m not an expert skier but bought a set of salomon cross max skis and bindings off ebay for just under £100 and they were in near new condition.I am probably a litle further on with my skiing than u as have skied all the runs in boro but would reccomend this type of ski but at 170 for your height. I would also as has already been said have lessons which are very cheap in bg and i have always found to been most enjoyable. My first set of skis ...

I would also as has already been said have lessons which are very cheap in bg and i have always found to been most enjoyable. My first set of skis were a set of atomic 9.22 beta carve which i have now given to my son and these were a great starter ski.my son uses them and he is much better and braver than me and get more out of them than i ever would have. Good luck with your search,
