re: Irish Builders

Would be a good idea Confused

I will be the laughing stock in Bulgaria in my thong - but do I care - not in the slightest.

If all the world laughed at themselves a little more - maybe, just maybe it would be a nicer place to be.

90% of all jokes take the mickey out of someone else - so stop taking it personally Mad

re: Irish Builders

Pete - I understand where you are coming from but if I, for example, made a joke about the children freezing/starving/being set on fire in the orphanage (not that I ever would I hope you understand), you and many others on this board would find this offensive. Seems liek double standards to me

re: Irish Builders

Johnno1982- I don't really see the comparison there.
There isn't really any joke you can tell about children suffering anywhere in the world that would be slightly funny.
Not double standards, just some things in life are amusing and some things are not!!
I am able to laugh at myself about things so not sure why everybody can't do this regardless of race, culture or religion.

re: Irish Builders

I understand that Debbie. I can't think of one that is slightly funny, but then that's becuase I don't find that sort of thing entertaining. I'm sure if I tried hard enough I could find one that would make some people laugh.

We all find different things funny and we all get offended by different things. I just don't think it is appropriate for people to tell someone to grow up because they find something offensive.

re: Irish Builders

You must lead a very very sad life.

And to compare a throw-away joke with children suffering is pathetic.

Come on then - tell us a funny joke about a chicken crossing the road, or is that offensive towards chickens?

Go have an Irish coffee - but remember to take it out of the jar first Razz

re: Irish Builders

You know I saw an episode of Family Guy the other night and it absolutely ripped the P out of the English using all the stereotypes ie we drink too much have bad teeth all talk with a plum in our mouths sit around and have tea and scones and generally are stuck up and superior.
Now I rolled my eyes at some of these but still found it very, very funny and was not offended at all.

The day we all stop taking the P out of each other will be a very sad one.

If you dont like the joke, you know where the red cross is (top right hand corner of the screen)

In a world where Humans are the "intelligent" species, we sure know how to prove them wrong

We have as much right to crack a joke as you have to not crack a joke and sit there in your armchair, ringing up the local council complaining that some snowboarders are shredding up the snow and clearly having too much fun

re: Irish Builders

I've not said that I find it offensive or that I don't find it funny. All I'm trying to say is we all find different things funny and we all get offended by different things and I just don't think it is appropriate for people to tell someone to grow up because they find something offensive.
