Bob - I know many skiers that take up ski school every year who are excellent skiers (as Trevor is as I've skied with him!)
It not only trying new skills but also the opportunity to meet new people and enjoy their company.
And as for instructors being 'well paid' you need to get a reality check. One of my best friends (Marco) used to be head of the Pamporovo Ski School and I skied with him 2 days ago in Italy. I know EXACTLY what they earn so don't make comments that simply are not ...

Great report. Been skiing in Serre Chevalier last week, great skiing there but as I was skiing I couldn't help but wonder how everyone was getting on in Pamps. Was planning on heading for Slovakia in March, but my arm could easliy twisted and could be back to Pamps this year. Made so many friends there the 2 times I was there I really miss the place now! Don't Neilson and Crystal travel charter flights into Plovdiv?
The transfer to Pamps is a pain, agreed, but it's short compared to somewhere like Andorra, which can be 5 hours at least ... or some of the higher Alpine resorts where it's a train ride followed by a bus!
Haven't been to Pamps for six years, Boro man myself, but it doesn't sound as if its changed much!
Great report, thanks for taking the time to write it. We are going out next week and good to have an update. We find the transfer to be no real trauma at all and worth it to get back to good old Pamporovo!
Pete - the long transfer is THE reason we're not going to Pamps this Feb half term. We've always had a late flight home Saturday and have been able to get in a full days extra skiing, which has been brilliant.
Also, a couple of times we've been there when flights into Sofia have been diverted to Plovdiv because Sofia's snowed in. Dread to think where they'll go now!
We love Pamps and would go back in a heartbeat if we could get to an airport close enough.
