A mate just telephoned, he returned from Scheffau in Austria tonight, and the snow is generally poor by comparison to other years. Its not Just Bulgaria who has seen this change!
He said most of the links to the Ski welt area were closed, and any pistes that were decent were packed, with some coaches arriving from neigbouring resorts, as Scheffau was one of the best (Bar the Glaciers).

After what he spent, hes thinking of coming over to Boro next year with us!
Keep the faith, the snow will come yet!
Just back from France and the snow actually was very good. That was Alpe d'huez -snow 40ish at the bottom and 140and more on top.Glacier fully opened and 85% of lifts were working.Even had trouble cleaning the car from the massive snow on top.The connections for the satelites were just OK but Plenty of snow there and stick to high resorts when booking to avoid mistakes.Hoping by Half term the weather to improve in Bulgaria cos already booked much earlier and expensive to cancel or relocate ...

Just can't imagine what I will do without the snow magic if it is on its way out from Europe.Greenland? North Pole?maybe to beat the crowds and get a foot in there .But how. read somewhere last week that banks are refusing and don't want to lend money in mountain ski ventures which are lower than 1500m above sea levels. If that's the case - not much space left .I think there must be solution one way or another.
Theres allways the chance next year may be really cold and plenty of snow, and people will say it was one of those years in2007?, its happened before. Somehow having known Scottish sking since the early 80s having trained there(and love the place!), the changes have been coming a few year now i fear! the climate change is well known amongst the locals!
year on year it is getting like a military predictions operation for my family to book this well dreamed ski holiday and be in a proper winterland with snow to remember for the rest of the year. Before just book well in advance and always play with the white stuff no problem. Now : maps ,webcams , forecasts ,hights of resorts ,number of runs and lifts opened, availability, this side of the pond or the other ,even just understood to start thinking about -have I paid the extra fuel ...
