Just got back from boro

Hi Guys

11 of us have just arrived back from Borovets (9 adults 2 kids) and although the conditions are not great most of us had a good time, we found some closed runs with fresh powder which i found really good and a load of fun and the yest runs where not to bad whilst we were there. My 2 yr old went in to the Samokov creche which when i first dropped him of i was nervous about but the 2 ladies where brilliant with him, and my 6 yr old was with the Samokov ski school, he was put with ...

My 2 yr old went in to the Samokov creche which when i first dropped him of i was nervous about but the 2 ladies where brilliant with him, and my 6 yr old was with the Samokov ski school, he was put with adults as he is an intermidiate skier, but never the less he was not put of by this and the adults were all very good with him and his instructor Jenny was fantastic she learnt him his parallel skiing which was brilliant.....
Just wanted to let you all know that the conditions may not be A1 but never the less we had a fab time and met some very nice people, so for all you who are going i have my fingers crossed that it snows real soon ...

Hi. Can you give me more information about the creche? We have been the last 4 years and did not know that there was one in Boro. We are going out there on the 16th. We have a 2 and a 5 year old who get very bored! Thanks.

re: Just got back from boro

Also just got back today (10th) after a week in Borovets. Without beating about the bush, the skiing conditions were very poor - and I think we were relatively lucky! The 2 blues in front of the Rila remained open all week (just). The 2 red runs Popangelov & Yastrebretz seem to have their own micro climate & remained open all week apart from Wednesday (I think Borosport sensibly preserved them while it was raining on Wednesday). However, my wife & daughter are intermediate, so none of the available runs really suited them. Needless to say, the queues for the available drag lifts / chair lifts were depressing!
We had a moderate snow fall on Sunday & a heavy fall on Tuesday (guesstimate 18 inches) but virtually all destroyed on Wednesday by rain & 12 degrees.
This was my fourth visit to Borovets & possibly wont by MY last visit, but I doubt I will be there with my wife again. She was thoroughly hacked off by the end of the week (you can only remind yourself the beer is cheap compared to France so many times).
I would go again, but only a last minute booking & only after studying the snow fall / conditions to ensure there is a significant base of snow before I go.
I really hope that snow comes soon for all about to go & for the people who work there.

I agree with you Carnage-just got back today and dire conditions.

Our party was hacked by the end of the week.

I will think long and hard before we come again.

like you the people working there are desperate for an improvement in the snow

When its good, its great, Boro is unique and fab vfm. have been following posts from people in resort on this site, also have cousin living in Samokov and it seems snow is finally coming but still dont think it will be enough.

Jerry if you are travelling with Inghams speak to Emma and she will sort your creche out she is very good also There is an English creche called the race which is meant to be very good. (they have a web page also a ski kindergarten and school)
To all that are complaining about the conditions at the end of the day you are not guarenteed snow if you want guarenteed snow then America and Canada is your best bet, this was my first time in Europe always been to the states and Canada so did not ...

To all that are complaining about the conditions at the end of the day you are not guarenteed snow if you want guarenteed snow then America and Canada is your best bet, this was my first time in Europe always been to the states and Canada so did not go expecting much i think that europe has to defo be a last min thing, but saying that was on the slopes every day and had a laugh it is by no way very good for blue and green runs if the conditions are bad. Very Happy

re: Just got back from boro

maybe some people cant afford america or canada hayley and maybe people can understand poor snow but what people get upset about is their 1 ski holiday been wiped out by poor conditions, maybe tour operators should do more instead of just taking the money. Mad
