re: Just returned from Bansko

you do get a discount but the ski hire there is more expensive and the shop does not open until 8.30.

I recomend Bansko sports to hire, if the price to hire and your lift price work out about the same as they are cheaper and very friendly and helpful

Regarding the exchange of money, do you just take british cash and change in the local bank or can you use a card? Off on the 1st of Feb and you have made me look forward to the food despite some of the other things I have read, cheers... Razz

re: Just returned from Bansko

Gary,

I go to Bansko on 7th Feb and I have booked my ski equipment through Balkan Holidays, i called them recently to find out which rental company they use, they told me Ulen. I've only managed to find reviews on their ski school, but not their equipment..so would be grateful if anyone could give any reviews..?

re: Just returned from Bansko

Nice constructive report Posh. Glad you enjoyed Bansko.

Welshy - lots of really helpful info/tips in your part for newbies to Bansko. I love the skewers - my FAVE!!! Not so keen on Peasants Treat but will always try stuff to check what it's like. I love BG food and the old mehanas are defo the best. I think those who go and complain should perhaps get out into the old town abit more and may be pleasantly surprised Razz Lion et al is OK if hungry when passing and want a quick snack ...

j - if you take English notes you must make sure they are clean i.e. no rips or tears and no writing on them as they will not accept them in BG. Various ATMs dotted around (gondola, main hotels etc). I take a few Lev to tie me over the minute I arrive (usually have some left from a previous trip) and just use my card over there to draw money out.

Cool
