They progressed in the last round only on away goals against Slavia Prague drawing 2-2 away after a goalless draw at home.
Their best ever season in Europe was in 1975-76 when they reached the Quarter-Final of the UEFA Cup. Having beaten Ajax in the previous round theyfaced Barcelona in the last eight. Levski lost 4-0 in Spain before winning the return at home 5-4. Barcelona then lost to Liverpool in the Semi-Final as the Reds went on to lift the trophy.
Georgi Chilikov was Bulgaria's top scorer last season with 22 League goals.
In their domestic Cup Final last season they beat Litex Lovetch 2-1. They were six points from winning the 'double' finishing runners-up in the League to city rivals CSKA
