Lessons or not... Thats the question!

Hi all,

I have been skiing for the last couple of years running and i am coming over to Borovets on the 19th Jan with some mates.... Here it comes.... Question is should i have a couple of lessons when i get to Borovets OR just go with the flow!

I didnt have any lessons in Avoriaz last year and wsa doing blacks by the end of the week (lots of practise at the snowdome and i was fine) apart from the burn!! Neutral

So do you reckon i should have a couple of lessons to hone the technique ...

re: Lessons or not... Thats the question!

I've been snowboarding for quite a few years now, and it is just practice and makes perfect.

Every now and then i'll just get an hour's lesson with someone just so they can give me tips and make sure im not picking up and bad habits.

I'd just go with the flow, and get a few lessons when you're there if needed!

Thanks for that...

I ski by the way but some sound advise. I just want to make sure i get the most out of the trip.

Anyone else had any similar experiences or stories that might help?

Very Happy

IMHO you really shouldn't be doing blacks after two years of lessons. You may feel confident but if you looss it it's not just your helath at risk.....think about that....get more lessons and really get perfect.

My dad is Austrian and when he was taught in Austria they wouldn't let you on a red until you could show real talent usually 5 years experience....but times are changing and skiing is becoming more popular and accessable therefore people are less patient...remember it's no fun ...

had one year of leasons second time skiing was doing black run in bansko, I did go with my hubby though who is really experienced, advice is its about practice and lessons are in large groups so you spend a lot of time hanging around, but unless I was with an experienced skier for the first few years I would join a class.

My advice would be to ALWAYS get lessons. Whether they be in a group or on a one-to-one basis. Think about it; if even the world cup skiers of this world require year round tuition and coaching what does that say about amateur skiers/boarders like ourselves.

I would class myself as a fairly advanced skier and I still make sure that I get lessons every season to further hone my technique. Besides, lessons are fun as you are always learning new and challenging techniques.

Did lessons for 12 years but now free ski to get more in.

You are never too good to learn more - we just opted out so we can please ourselves where and when we ski now.
