Locals Please....

Ok i know we can not control the weather haha but i am SERIOUSLY panicking with the fact i travel to Borovets January 8th and still there isn't a drop of snow in the resort. I was told it always snows in January and along with it being the coldest month i was sure it would be a safe bet but right now.... i am not assured at all.

A couple of questions,

Has it been like this before in previous years??

What can we do if we get there and still there is no snow, can we get a refund or ...

What can we do if we get there and still there is no snow, can we get a refund or changed date on our holiday? I can not see myself wanting to spend a week in ski resort but unable to actually go skiing.

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated, thanks.

re: Locals Please....

Hi Craig
Should be snow up top of Gondola at the least!- may be a bit crowdy with everyone up there, but things can change quickly across there so wouldnt worry at the momment!
Once temperatures start dropping they can get the snow cannons running lower down, so again take it a week at a time, and im there the week after you!
Check some web cams out during the day and you can see the snow higher up- it may make you feel a little better!
enjoy!

re: Locals Please....

Haha well that is somewhat more comforting, as long as i am sure that 100% i will be able to do some skiing whilst i'm there i will not be so worried about it, it's just a case of if there is no snow, will they shut down lifts etc. i have no idea.... but if you tell me there will be snow on the runs at the top of the gondola... then that's reassuring enough for me to stop worrying Very Happy

re: Locals Please....

Craig- you can never predict 100% that there will be snow mate!
However, it is a bit early to get worried!
Keep checking the forum and the board for more details!
Have a nice Christmas then start worrying if there is nothing by then
Cheers Very Happy

re: Locals Please....

Last season there was very little snow early Jan and they were bussing the Boro lot over to Bansko - made Bansko a bit busier but it was a solution and meant more people got to do more Skiing...

re: Locals Please....

Yeah i guess i should just forget about it and hope for the best once i'm there!
I went to Whistler earlier this year for the Olympics... and although by normal standards the conditions were pretty awful in terms of the weather... the skiing was still 10 out of 10 so i guess i just have to hope there is a big downpour in a months time Very Happy

Hi Craig, don稚 worry too much! I知 there a week before so I値l update you if there's no snow and what then happens in the resort! I値l be honest I hope the http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Borovets/6day/top predication is correct because at least this will be a few inches just to make us feel more at ease with the situation! After this snow they forecast a few days of clear skies so hopefully it will stick around for a bit before the next cold snap (snow)

I知 preparing my snow dance ready for just after Christmas to ensure it starts falling as I fly out!

re: Locals Please....

Went in mid January 08, bit icy on bottom to begin. But then heavy dumps two nights and it was fantastic. Up the godola and skiing down the tracks. I would be very confident of reasonable conditions. 8th of January fingers crossed. That being said March was great last year and thats what I have again this year. Booked Italian Alps for Christmas as Boro is a risk and significantly more expensive then. JJ
