We (21 of us) have booked to ski in Borovets this March. Two of our party are 6 year olds who we intended to take out with us have skied before . On trying to arrange for equipment hire it appears that under 7's are not allowed on the lifts / piste without an official guide / instructor. If they did ski their insurrance would be invalid. Not sure ......... my son has been skiing since 4 and although he had lessons with an instructor he did also ski with me and others without one ........ never even arose about him not being allowed
Our lad went on the piste this year in full ski school and even went down the slopes (more than once!) on Bobby's shoulders!
He is 4 and loved every minute... Has been telling his school friends since he got back and cannot wait until we get back in February.
It is more to do with the child and his/her level of confidence etc, Joshua is.... I think the phrase is... "His fathers son!" Kas right now is smiling!
Hi - Thanks for the comments so far. However what we want to do is take the 6 year olds out with the adults in our group. We do not intend for them to have any lessons as they are capable skier who have skied with us before in France. The point is there anyone out there who have been ableto purchase a lift pass and hire equipment independently and taken the under 7's out on the piste without any official guide or instructor?
Yes - I've done that on every holiday with my kids. They have all been skiing black runs from the ages of 5 upwards. My son was doing competitive alpine ski racing from the age of 6 so didn't do any ski school in BG. Didn't get a lift pass for him until he was old enough to need one. He has his own equipment but we hired for my 3 yr old daughter. She skied with us most of the time and also with an instructor for a couple of hours. No problems on the lifts with her at all.
We have family annual insurance which includes ski cover for all of us. I think I would double check that your policies include your children and that winter sports are included. If you had an accident that resulted in your child needing to be recovered from the piste you may need to pay cash and claim that back from your insurance company after the event. Just get receipts and fight the battle after. It would be more important to ensure that the repatriation and medical expenses are ...
