Going to Bansko next week. What currency is accepted in shops and restaurants please?

Might seem strange - but they actually accept the Bulgarian currency in Bulgaria - the Lev
Only pulling your leg, but in shops and bars they will very rarely accept anything else.

You can exchange your Euro for Levs at any Bulgarian bank or at most hotel receptions.

pity your not going to boro next week as i would of had your euro's as i'm off to france in june thats if i servive boro and bobby's bar.

Jez, you get a better exchange rate if you take stirling out to BG - we were out at Xmas and got 2.32 at the exchange office in Samokov and 2.27 at the Bank in Borovets. The prefer clean, tidy £20 or £10 notes.Enjoy your holiday N

Hi Got my Levs in M and S, Exeter. The rate was similar to the above, certainly 2 plus something. Plenty of currency in stock. Will hire a safe in the hotel for all my goodies and only take what I need on a daily basis.Pete, Is it individual lockups and your allocated key ???
