I've skied Les Gets a few times - We went there primarily because of the British run creche for when my offspring were babies. The creche was superb but I'm not sure it is still operating. Skiing was fab and its a good extensive ski area and as Steve C says, a bit cheaper than the 3 valleys.
Restaurants all a bit 'samey' though and full of the Haute Savoire fayre (lots of cheesy things like fondue and raclette) which, when you have a husband who is allergic to cheese and can't stand to be ...

The only reason to go there would be for the skiing and I would miss the apres ski and food (and prices) of Bulgaria.

I don't like to rave about Les Gets because of the nature of this site & to be fair Bulgaria does have it's own good points.
But as a family we love Les Gets.
We also like to travel around while we're there. Using Les Gets as a base we have previously driven to many other places - Chamonix, Flaine, Argentiere, Saas Fee (that one was a bit far). Not to mention the other resorts you can ski to - Morzine, Avoriaz, Chatel.

On the downside however this area of the Portes du Soleil is a little low & not always snowsure. We go on Boxing Day & there is no sign of snow yet on the forecast. Not panicking but I would be happier if the odd flurry started to land pretty soon.

We know some great restaurants including a Pizza place in St. Jean D'Aulps which is the only place in the world where I will eat Pizza. Can't stand it anywhere else.

However, the main reason for choosing France this Christmas time is that my daughter has just spent 6 months in Paris as part of her Uni languages course. She has to be back in Paris on 2nd Jan & Les Gets was one of the few places I found that gave flexibility on arrival & departure dates.

I will be back to BG (Borovets) in the future & Courchevel sometime in between.

Ever tried Domino's pizza? The garlic and hearb crust dunking dips are amazing.
