re: Need advice on Pamporovo

Yeah - don't forget Daks - bit cosier than BJs. We drank all their Schnapps the first night we were there, and gate crashed the previous weekes presentation ceremony. Can't wait to do it all again in just over a week :-) Flying out on White Knuckle, (sorry I mean Balkan) Holidays Airways from Gatwick on the 04/03/06. Staying at the Mourgavets. The Chinese is I think near the Perelik, but could be talking rubbish! Will try out the new pub, live music is always a laugh. Got some new gear in ...

Got some new gear in the summer - Fats Sams had ski wear reduced by 75% in June! Just got to remember where I put it now!

White knuckle refers to the plane - very old looking Tupulev - we sat at the front + had to hold the tables up when taking off!

Hi, agree with you about the White Knuckle flew back in Jan should have been a 3hr 10min flight was 4 hours with 3 hours of turbalance even the air crew looked worried then we had a bad landing bouncing on the wheels from side to side, have said that i wont fly Balken again, also food was bad and service was not that great. We flew from Bristol and we were on their Airbus

Michele, the airline can't do much about the turbulence! Admitedly food and service could be improved, but to get better you'd need to go for a more pricey airline like BA.

I'm a bad flier and am worried I will end up on one of the Tupolevs whe I fly from Gatwick to Plovdiv on the 11th March. For anyone who doesn't know what they are there's info here:

re: Need advice on Pamporovo

Sorry if the White Knuckle comment scared people - didn't mean to. I know quite a bit about planes and in fact the Tupolev TU 154 is a very sturdy plane. It is designed for opertions in Russia, where runways are rough and short and is in fact quite a bit faster than your average Boeing or Airbus. Its just that inside the cabin, things are a bit 1970s in design - again, its Russian! Theres no in flight entertainment and the luggage lockers are very small so don't try and take anything bigger ...

Theres no in flight entertainment and the luggage lockers are very small so don't try and take anything bigger than a small rucksack on as hand luggage. The food was different and certainly prepares you for Bulgarian food. Had a more comfortable flight than I had on FIrst Choice the year before.
