Bulgaria Ski discussion board

The proposed airport 70km from Bansko towards Gotse Delchev has been on the planning board since the CAA refused authorisation for commercial airlines to land at the unused military runway near to Dupnitsa. A similar plan was proposed there. Their position was 40mins from Boro and 1hr from Bansko. The road is good and the area was in desperate need of new investment creating jobs etc. Now i cannot see that to allow flights into this new proposal will ever happen based on their refusal on a much better site. The road to Gotse is bad, well, no where as good as the present one from Sofia, its position puts it outside of servicing Boro or Pamps unless massive investment in roads is forthcoming, and to be honest Thessolonika is just over the border. Who knows, it might happen, perhaps as a hopper airport, with turboprop aircraft, bringing in from other airports ??
Have to agree with Mat, 10 years terminal 2 took from planning stage to completion, i wouldn't be holding my breath as i wait to book my flight to Gotse

Sadly Welshy, its a 200 mile round trip taking around six hours for us drivers and thats if the plane is on time. Fuel costs are similar to UK, and the wear and tear on vehicles is unbelievable. Add to that the stress of BG maniacs, traffic police (robbing gits), roadworks, parking, vehicle cleaning (i ain't joking, the roads are filthy) ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, dunno why i do it

O, by the way, T2 is nice
As a footnote, i can do Bansko to the outskirts of Sofia keeping to speedlimits in around 1hr 40mins, the completion of the outer ringroad and the bypassing of Zsar Boris road (cobbles) would possibly add maybe another 25mins to get to the airport. Can be over an hour at present
