Having had the journey from hell from Bansko to Sofia on Saturday morning which resulted in missing our flight home I can safely say that the airport would be very welcome. Although on a good day the journey is only 2 hours this isn't always the case!
Sorry folks the airport will happen, remember President, Bush made a visit to Bulgaria not so long ago, for talks well guess what they talked about, can't say much more might have a visit from the FBI.

2 hours ot a ski resort is more then accetable. i traveled for nirly 4 hour up the moantin to get the the place i went.
the thing you have to remeber is that you cant build a runway on the side of a montainas i was told.
i had the fastest bus driver in buligaria when i went to boro last year. we were the last to leave the airport by about 20 mins. we over took evey bus (3 buses on a 100m strate) and was up in boro checked in and unpacked befor the first bus came in lol.
You can build a runway on the side of a mountain. Ever been to Courchevel. Wouldn't fancy the landing or take off though. it's very short and kind of ramps off the end with a steep hill in the middle to aid landings and take offs
Also, the charter flights have to serve all 3 winter resorts, and it would not be possible to use the airport unless all pax on the aircraft are for Bansko.
Ok but who is going to pay for the airport? The EU?Dont think so because Bulgaria allready has 2 airports nearby.Sofia and Plovdiv.Dont think they pay for a third in the region.Thats my opnion anyway.
