New to Borovets

Im a single dad taking his two small kids (7&5) over to Borovets 2nd week in Jan 2005, never been before, whats it really like? staying at the Samokov or something.i am an good skier, both kids quite good now after previous years at france and austria.
is there any pubs etc I can take 2 well behaved kids (if there is such a bloody thing!) into at night or am i restricted to the hotel?

Ian,You and your boys will be made welcome almost anywhere in borovets, a special warm welcome you will find in the White Magic bar which is opposite the Samokov hotel.

I was taken on my first skiing holiday to borovets at the age of seven. When my parents first took me in to the white magic bar across from the Samokov i was immediatly taken in and made feel extrememly welcome by Christo the owner. He introduced my and my parents to his family and his two young daughters. I was made to feel very welcome and all feelings of being scared were taken away by their hospitality. Also in this bar you will find good music and amazing food, i definatly recomend this bar to you. Many of the other bars and restaurants also made me feel welcome but it is the white magic that stands out in my memory as the most welcoming, which is why i am returnin for the 8th time at the age of 16.
Borovets is a fantastic resort for all the family and i can assure you whereever you choose to go with your children you will all enjoy it and be made feel welcome.

We have been to Borovets for the last 2 winter and our children are now 9 & 7. All the restaurants are welcoming for children and we found the smaller one's to be friendlier than the larger hotel bars.Try the Avalanche on the slopes outside the Rila Hotel. You can sit and watch the kids enjoy the sledges and bum boards on the safe nursery slopes whilst you warm yourself by the fire with a chocolate brandy and good company!!

I would have classd the slope outside the rila as safe too until this year, our second in Borovets. When I was sledging there my sledge started off on one side of the slope and went to the other meaning I crashed pretty hard into the railings that goes round the chair lift resulting in a pouring bl;oody cut on the back of my head, a friendly passer by good at first aid, a trip by skidoo to the hospital, 4 stitches, whiplash and being advised not to leave my cabin for the rest of my ...

We( her who should be obeyed and the 2 monsters 9 and7...not well behaved at all) went to BORO and stayed at the Samokov in Feb this year. The hotel food is, if you have searched the threads, not the hottest. The staff are friendly and always have time for the kids.
We visited most pubs and resteraunts....change being the spice of life.....and were made really welcome in every one......
we are going back again at Xmas for a week.
