Hi Dona We flew with ThomsonFly at Christmas and they gave us a 10 kg allowance, we did have to fax them a letter and details about the charity. I couldn't give them a charity number but advised them that the orphanage was supported by BG Aid and gave them BG Aid's charity number and they happily accepted that. Worth a try.

Hi Bambi ....do you know the BG aid charity number and I will try that. Is there any documentation that the appeal is supported by BG aid if so I will fax again tomorrow.

Sorry I can't find the charity number for BG Aid, I got the number from Amanda, try emailing her for it. I am going to Borovets on 23rd Feb and I contacted First Choice to ask for extra baggage allowance and they have given me 20 Kg which is really impressive. If you want, I could forward you a copy of my email to them so you can see the content.

Hi Dona, the extra 10 kg posted on website was from me , however the only way i could get it was by going to the airport the week before and begging and pleading with thomson fly staff, they would not give an inch on the phone despite anything i said , so good luck and hope you get it

BGAid has been granted Registered Charity status. The registered Number is: 1118240 ?? (where did you get your number SkiBoy ??)

I have emailed the Administrator of BGAid to ask if we can use their number for this purpose. Will report back when I hear anything. Fingers crossed.

I just turned up at gatwick with my two cases that came to over 40kg, and explained the situation to the check-in staff. They made one phone call explaining that the cases were for the orphanage and accepted them straight away free of charge. To be honest I was expecting a bit of a struggle but they couldn't have been more accomodating mate.

Cheers for that......will have some stuff this weekend when I go and will hope to get away with it. If we get permission to use the BG aid number for the future though that will be fab as people can prepare in advance. I only need to get someone in a bad mood and could have to abandon loads of stuff or pay extra luggage.
