Hi fellow skiers................
after ski-ing in pamps this january for the first time I obviously noticed that there was a lack of snow which was'nt a great problem as we ski'd every day, BUT....the temprature was very warm every day, I went from wearing my full ski gear on day one and sweating like mad to wearing next to nothing, as a novice ski-er and a first timer to pamps is the temprature that warm eery year ?? or was that a freak year ?? if it's that warm all the time then I can cut down on the amount of luggage i take next feb.
i have lived here (Bulgaria) for three years. first year it got down to -20c the second -27c and last year as you know, the not very cold at all, I would not cut down just in case.
OUCH........ -27c that's nuts, I came back with a tanned face this year and that's no joke, i did'nt even wear my ski gloves, and I would have ski'd in jeans and a sweatshirt if I could keep up-right for more than 4 inutes at a time !!
As the scout master said be prepared, top of Borovets was minus 18 the other year and chin was exposed to the elements, felt like i had just shaved with a blunt rusty bic razor
We were in Pamps at the beginning of February, landed the day it snowed. When it was snowing it was very cold only got warmer and needed to wear less layers later in the week when the sun came out.
Some days It was -15 in 06 at Pamps, even on warm days I still took extra layers for the kids in my back pack, if I didn't they'd just pinch my scarf, hat etc when the sun went in. As arron said be prepared for the worse, you can always strip off.
If I stripped off on the slopes it would be cold as i would block the sun out !!
AA...it's good to see a few of the regulars are up and about this morning
I think i'll take my full kit bag just in case of a cold snap.
