Any outdoor swimming pools open to the public in Pamporovo? Heading over in July, was there2 years ago and the weather was amazing. Have been to Devin and enjoyed that, but would be interested in a swim somewhere nearer.
Thanks
Julie
Hi Julie There are no outdoor pools in Pamporovo or Smolyan. I think there is an outdoor pool at Pamporovo Village apartments. There is Orpheus valley in Devin and the natural pools in Devin or alternatively for a fun day out the giant water park in Plovdiv they have loads of the normal water park adventure slides.
No, there is very little going on in the summer. There are no golf courses which must be a big attraction in Bansko. Its really only hiking, walking, horse riding, fishing etc. Very few places have outdoor pools. Scope for the future perhaps....
Thanks PV, I thought that was the case. I've not been out there in the summer but hope to. Be good to see some move summer based ventures springing up.
Thanks guys. Snow White- that's great info, hadn't heard about the water park in Plovdiv (is there a website). Also, have been to Orpheus hotel in Devin, it's great, but I haven't managed to find the natural pools, can you advise me how to find them.
Thanks again
Julie
I've not been to Devin before. Amanda from the tourist and info office offers excursions to the ones at Devin.
Just found this post on another forum which recommends and gives directions to the outdoor springs at Stara Zagora
"if you are driving, leave stara zagora on the chirpan road.
about 10 mins drive out of the centre, turn right, go up hill and follow the signs for the hospital.
go past the hospital and keep going for about 20 mins.
the road go into a very leafy, tree area - pass a petrol staion on your right.
keep going and you will see the signs for the stara zagora mineral bath (the original building) - you turn left off the main road.
this pool is indoor but if you carry on past it (stay on main road) to your right, look up and you will see an outdoor pool in the middle of a forest. "
The natural ones at Devin are beyond the bottling plant
The name of the natural pools is spa-struilica. there is a website http://www.spa-struilica.hit.bg/ but it doesn't seem to work for me today (yet works from within BG)
