Package or not?

Package or not?

Is it cheaper to book a package holiday or book everything seperately. We are looking to go during the february half term 2007. If so, which package holiday company do you recommend.

Thanks in advance for your help.

re: Package or not?

As I said in my earlier response to your post, booking the full package in advance is always going to work out cheaper even if you have your own skis because the cost of the lift pass and ski school cost the most and the two things you will probably need when out there.

re: Package or not?

One word - flights !!! Cheaper to book accomodation but the flights are now quite expensive. Moral of the story - book the cheap flights as soon as you can...you can get great deals with owners but if the flights are too expensive you are shot....

I booked everything seperately, it has worked out a lot cheaper, but then i booked my flights in August the closer you leave the flights the more it can cost, but saying that i looked at flights Friday and they are still the same price.
you may find it a problem getting a hotel now but you should be ok for an apartment, this forum will help with that though. good luck James

re: Package or not?

Hi

can I ask you who you booked your flights with. All the ones I am looking at involve a stop over in Italy. All the direct flights from London seem very expensive now.

Flights from UK

for direct to Sofia:

wizzair
air bulgaria
hemus air
BA

non direct flights:

alitalia
czech airlines
lufthansa
sky europe
austrian
air france
lot
hungarian
olympic

Lots to choose from there!! - if you want help in narrowing down the choices (depending where you want to fly from) get in touch

I always prefer organising my own holiday - its cheaper, you can travel whichever day of the week you want to and can stay for as short or long a holiday as ...

re: Package or not?

Went to bansko in February and 2 of us saved about £600 in total on the balkan price. We stayed in the Avalon, which isn't featured in the brochures, but it was a brilliant B&B. Mal

re: Package or not?

we booked our selfs 2 days before going got flight with thomas cook for £49 return, they tend to bring their prices down the closer to departure date but if you need to go half term could be taking a risk waiting until that close.

re: Package or not?

Agree with you there Sam we went half term and flew with czech airlines from Manchester - Prague - Sofia. Glad I booked the flghts a few months in advance, because all the flights were full hen we flew. Mal
