Got a number of concerns even though I have already booked the holiday up:-

(1) Is the food that bad?
(2) Is it true there is a McDonalds (8 year old son cannot live without chicken nuggets for more than 48 hours).
(3) Why is the Hotel Pamporovo called the "Mafia Hotel"?
(4) Is it a place that an eight year old will be safe and enjoy himself?
(5) Are the buses to the slopes that bad and is there still a problem with Hotel Pamporovo being the last pick up point?
(6) Will I enjoy Bulgaria?

I have plenty more but this will do for now.

You seem to have read all the bad postings and totally ignored the vast majority of good ones.

To answer your questions.

No the food is excellent. Breakfast at hotels may be a little bland but otherwise you can eat like a king.

There is (or was) a McDonalds at the middle station.

I have known the Pamporovo Hotel ever since the day it opened and have NEVER heard it called the Mafia Hotel. Just some fool with a strange imagination.

Children are completely safe 24 - 7.

Hotel Pamporovo will always be the last pick-up point because of it's location. You will get a bus within 20 mins max of queuing.

Enjoying Bulgaria is up to you. I have been going 13 years and every year it gets better. I can find nothing other than praise for this wonderful resort.

1)Food isn't bad, just a bit on the cool side in the hotels sometimes. Food in restaurants and slopes is cheap and great.

3) I think that is just because it was so affluent at the time it was built, everything was imported and the bulgarians hadn't seen anything like it. It may or may not have been built on "Mafia" money, I'm personally sceptical, but a number of buildings in London were built on the proceeds of the Brink-Mat robbery. I stay there every year now and its great.
4) Your 8yo will be looked after and welcome everywhere. Trust me I'm a doctor.
5) never has been for me, get a taxi or wait a short while.
6) who knows? I always do, without fail, have a wonderful time -tell us when you come back.

Pamporovo will be a great cultural experience for you and your son. It's a great family holiday, unfortunately not everyone who has been to Pamps and continue to go back use this site, so please have an open mind.

There are many Hotels to choose from, we tried the Prespa Hotel last time and are trying a different one this time.

Your son will love it, he will make new friends and have fun skiing with his family. Take the negative points with a pinch of salt and have fun with your family.

WE ARE GOING BACK FOR THE SIXTH TIME.FOOD IS NOT THAT BAD AT ALL.IF YOU GET FED UP WITH THE HOTEL FOOD TRY THE PIZZA PLACE AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS BY THE PERELIK,IT IS VERY GOOD AND THE PRICES ARE VERY LOW.
THERE IS A McDONALDS ON THE SLOPES HALFWAY.MOST PEOPLE STAY IN THERE GROUP AND EAT IN THE WOODEN HUTS .FOOD IS VERY GOOD HERE
SKI SCHOOL STARTS AT 10am AND WE ALWAYS GET THE SKI BUS AT 9am.it,s only 10 MINUTES .THIS GIVES YOU TIME TO HAVE A PRACTISE BEFORE YOUR GROUP GETS THERE OR HAVE A CHAT WITH PEOPLE IN YOUR GROUP.BULGARIA IS A WONDRFUL PLACE YOU,LL LOVE IT
