Get different stories from different people. Have heard that ski instructors get commission to take you to different places, that they rely on this as they on get £50 per week salary. Was told last week that if I wanted to go to a particular restaurant I had to go by myself as it was 'off limits'. Instructors in Pamporovo are fantastic.

Basically go where YOU want. Find out where the best deals are and enjoy a fantastic lunch. Bulgarian food is excellent, particularly Satch and Karvarma.
Instructors are given a list of restaurants they have to visit with their group throughout the week. They don't get commission but usually a free lunch. They are pulled into the 'office' to explain why they have deviated from this and some have been sacked for repeatedly not participating in this. If you go somewhere different, the instructors are likely to leave you for lunch to try and minimise the consequences.

This happens in Boro too.

It is one of the practises I would like to see stopped, as it puts the instructors under duress and restaurants not on the 'list' miss out too.
The ski instructors in Pamporovo are fantastic and while many of the experienced instructors have left we had brilliant instructors last week Teddy and Kink were brilliant with our kids and Krassy was a superb host and instructor for our adults. Spass couldn't do enough for us and helped arrange a fun day in the snow when the lifts were closed.
The quality of instruction I have seen over twenty years has been significantly better than anywhere else in Europe.

Prices need to come down, though not by that much to bring the tourists back and re-establish Bulgaria as a place where those who cannot afford France etc can learn to ski. fair competition and trading will help do that.
An unfortunate side effect of Bulgaria joining the EU has been that prices have increased even though there was not need for them to do so.
Well there's a surprise! .. Pete if you pick up on this thread e-mail me. I will forward contacts etc to you to see if we can make a genuine effort to help.
Only honest and open self evaluation and a willingness to work collectively can help return Pamporovo to the position it once held. Any team is only as strong as its weakest player. But at any stadium a lot of little supporters' voices can make a big sound if they shout together.
And selective reprsentation of that team is better than the masses all trying to put forward a different point of view.
Until Arron and I have had the chance to meet with Galina and in turn with the resort representatives we have no idea what the possibilities are. Once we are able to report that information back to you then maybe we can form a committee in the UK to work together on certain issues. Fluter, your input is and will be both respected and welcomed, and you will definately be ...

Fluter, your input is and will be both respected and welcomed, and you will definately be invited to be a part of the debates that lie ahead, but lets test the water first before we start getting in too deep.
As soon as we know more - I'll drop you an e mail.
With that reassurance I will begin to discuss and investigate possible ways of promoting Pamporovo as well as begin the process of planning for next year.
Whether or not I am part of the debates does not matter...what matters is that as wide a consensus and input of stakeholders is taken into account and we get it right, not just for next season but for the years ahead. Even one of Alan Sugar's least competent apprentices would surely get this one right.... now ...
Thanks Pete.
