For the first time a ski police will ensure the good public policy at the slopes of the Bulgarian resort Pamporovo this winter, local media has reported.
Regular police officers and teams of the tourist company "Pamporovo" will participate in the patrol, the new executive director of the holding, Mariyan Belyakov has stated, as cited by local media.
The goal is to avoid parking problems and incidents with drunken skiers and brawlers, violating the public order.
A total of 90 devices for artificial snow, including 20 new ones, will provide the snow coverage at 14 km of ski slopes in the upcoming winter season in Pamporovo.
The total length of the slopes in the resort in 37 km. They have all been rehabilitated and expanded. They have been installed with new signs that give information about the slopes and the safety of the skiers. About 200 m of safety nets have also been installed at the most dangerous parts.
For a second consecutive year skiers will be able to practice night skiing in Pamporovo. However, this year, the slope "Snezhanka 2" ("Snow White 2") will be fully illuminated, thanks to the newly installed 60 spotlights on the pillars of both sides of the slope.
Night skiing starts from 6:00 pm and could be practiced until 10:30 pm. A special ski wardrobe will be built this year for the night skiers. A new ski and snowboard equipment will be delivered at the rest of the wardrobes.
Sounds like they are making some positive steps in resort, but they need to sort out the Plovdiv flights from UK, 3-4 hour transferes are not what most people want
It sure is. Its an interesting photo they have used in the article. I'm pretty sure its NOT Pamporovo.
I did the Plovdiv flight last week - lovely little airport, fast and efficient and the drive was about 1 hour 15 mins (that's me driving, and no snow so probably 1.5 hours for a transfer in ski season)
Flights from Stansted to Plovdiv are reasonably priced too although half term is not brilliant (as expected)
Be careful on the handluggage too - they were strict on return insisting ...

Be careful on the handluggage too - they were strict on return insisting EVERY passenger put their hand luggage into the size guides to confirm they were the right size.
Always makes interesting reading - things have reall y changed over the years.
Fights are great prices f- paid under £20 for a single tomorrow. Bad part is the 3 hr drive this end to Standsted !!!
Same for us in Leeds- 3hrs Standsted- 3.30 ish flight- 3 to 4 hours from Sofia. We love Pamps, but that's alot of travelling for 37km of piste, even if it is pretty.
I went to Stansted from Windermere! took 7 trains on the way home cos missed a connection but still worth it.
Also worth looking at internal flights between Leeds -Stansted or Blackpool - Stansted as that might be a feasible option?
Since when have there ever been a problem with drunken brawlers in Pamporovo?
Been going for almost 20 years now and never ever seen a fight or any drunken brawls.
is that cos you always start the drunken brawls Pete? and then leave chaos behind you perhaps????
Or do you leave the bars too early and head for your beds before the fun begins??
