Pamporovo in Feb

Hi there! Wonder if anyone out there can offer me any advice. Am thinking of taking me and my family to Pamporovo in Feb and staying at the Malina Village - can anyone tell me is this fairly centrally located, walkking distance to restaurants etc. Also will we have to take a bus to get to the lifts/ ski school or are we able to walk?
Any advice would be greatly received!
Nicky

Hi,stayed at the Malina a couple of years ago,and to be honest its well away from the centre,if your looking for nightli fe,resturants ,bars etc you want to stay in the centre, look at the Perilick,Mougouvats,Orlevets etc,(sorry about the spelling but you get the idea,
From the centre you will have to get a free ski bus but it's no hassle. The Malina would be ok if the taxi's were not extortionate (£10.00 each way)I got fed up down there and moved to the Perelick at my own cost and the next ...

If you were in a group of friends or family and wanted early nights them the Malina would be ok but i felt isolated down there, don't want to put you off but hope i've helped, Rigs

Hi Waldens, if you look on the Pamporovo ski piste map you can see where the Malina Villas are. They are directly below where the green no "6" ski run joins with the red no "3" on the left of the image. Google "Pamporovo ski map" or copy copy and paste link below

Hope this helps - sorry I have forgotten how to make a short link:

Malina is well located for the pistes but not for much else. Although there are a couple of places you can eat within walking distance - the Markony Hotel, the White Dog - both are great.

If you stay in the town centre then you can walk to all the restaurants, bars, ice skating rink etc and the only time you will need transport is to get to the pistes. Some of the hotels offer shuttle bus transport to the piste so check that they have something in place before you book.

re: Pamporovo in Feb

Thank you for all your replies - this really helps.
I have got a few other questions - I have found on the internet a place that does ski hire/ski pass/ tuition and equipment hire for around 170 euros - can this be right? I don't understand why this is so cheap?
My family and I would all have ski tuition - I would ideally like a hotel where we can walk to the ski school meeting point, can anyone tell me any hotels which are near to this point?
Many thanks
Nicky

re: Pamporovo in Feb

The malina village is literally right at the bottom of the mountain so no probs getting to ski school there but not central for anything in the eve ...... so depends what you'd prefer ....... I personally stay in centre and jump on ski buses which up to last season were frequent and free however I understand that is not the case this year ....... when in Feb are you going???

I haven't booked yet!! I don't know anything about skiing in Bulgaria. Might go the week before the half term or half term w/c 19th Feb. Is it very crowded half term week?

re: Pamporovo in Feb

Hi Waldens - We have an apartment in the Grand Monastery complex and you can't get more ski-in, ski-out that this. The green piste runs round the top of the complex which is accessed by an internal staircase within the building. You can also arrange ski equipment and lessons nearby.

The Complex also has many facilities like restuarant, bowling alley, nightclub, swimming pool and spa centre etc.
