Hi all,
Returned from Pamps Friday morning so i thought i'de do a little reveiw.
Snow was VERY good all piste's open and in good shape the whole time i was there (10 days), new years eve and day were fantastic powder days up there with the best, new years eve we woke to about 30cm of fresh at low level dug the car out of the car park with a little help from friends headed to Malina and parked at the White dog and hit the slopes which were extremley quite, nothing had been groomed since the previous night so it was heavan for us boarders me and the Mrs making fresh tracks everywhere, black 4 on to red 14 was just supurb!!! Met up with Powder seeking phill and smashed everywhere we could. Me and the Mrs called it a day at 1pm as we had to get to Assenofgrad for for Nye party only to find we were snowed in in Peter's car park and were limited to driving with chains, so a couple of beers in the evening with Phill and Claire at the castle to bring in New year and off to bed for yet another powder day.
New years day pistes had been groomed so not so much fun there but plenty of fresh deep stuff to the side, then met up with Powder s Phill, Claire, Helen and Moey thats when the fun started with a little local knowledge from Moey we were making fresh tracks through the forrest, under the stiokite lifts and done a couple of little hikes to get us to some lovely little drop off's, thanks for Moey it wsa amazing Wink. Since the Stiokete side has openend up it's greatly improved the place and much more oppurtunity for off piste, its not vast but if you catch it right its plenty for a day of powder riding......
Prices are pretty much the same very reasonable, the taxis are cheaper than before and you can certainly barter with them to get a deal.
Child car we used the kindergarten at Malina which was 34 lev a day which included an hour ski with equipment, lunch at the Perelik and took them sledging in the afternoon our daughter loved it Smile
Accomodation at the Castle was supurb with good food in the Mehana downstairs and a friendly lobby bar close to reception, also benifits from ski in ski (snow permitting) which was great.
And lastly was great to meet up with Powder seeking Phill, Claire, Helen and Moey and from making a good trip to fantastic with fantastic conditions, it doesn't matter where you are in the world if the conditions are right it makes your trip wherever you are......

re: Pamporovo report

Hi Chris, it was interesting to read your report and at least you got in, enjoyed it and got out before all the mayhem started.

I must admit I am jealous as I miss seeing the mountains and the village in the snow. Have to wait until the end of the month before I am back home in my mountain home Smile

Sorry to all on here that i have not posted a Christmas and New Year report - too depressed since arriving back in the UK!

Just to add me twopennath though - All the slopes wer blinding while we were out there and it was the best snowboarding christmas we have ever had.
Normally we go out at Christmas to see many of the friends we have made in pamps and on this board and always say "If we board on the slopes over the holidays it will be a bonus!" WHAT A BONUS WE HAVE HAD!!!!!

Snowboarding in deep powder is like no other feeling on earth ( hence the name ;-) ) snowboarding in deep powder with my missus and great friends at Christmas makes pipi a very very happy man! Thanks Moey n Helen, Chrisand Cici and the lovely Tia for an excellent fun filled time on the slopes and in the bar on every day we were in beautiful Pamps xxx

In terms of resort, many regulars will be impressed with the improvements on the slopes, mid-station buildings and ticket offices etc its really starting to take shape up there and no doubt getting ready for the European Cup event in Feb.

The White Dog is great for drinks and food during the day and Peter, Andrea, Ilia and Rossi always make you feel part of the family!! The lodgeat the top of the mountain is another grat place to sit in the sun and have a beer or two during the day before hitting the late afternoon slopes Booze

Main recomendation from us - Get up early and board, board, board before the pistes get chopped up by everyone enjoying the resort! Put the effort in during the morning and then take it easy in the afternoon. Stoykite remains the best 2 runs on the slopes but when there is this much snow you'll have good times whichever run you choose.

Finally if you see somone on the slopes who you suspect is from this board, say hello, we did and made some great new friends out on the slopes who made our time in Pamps so much better!!!!!! Snowboarding Cheers Party baloons Happy dance

Cheers all PSP & Claireabella ( back over at the end of Feb) AV......IT XX

re: Pamporovo report

Forgot to mention.....

Pevcho ( not smelt correctly) at the White Dog serviced the PSP N Claire boards perfectly while we were there. Not Stan Boardman from the Snowshack but a very very good supersub!!

Cheap and very effective on the day before the dump came! Great Service indeed!! Gentleman
