Bloody hell the Alzheimer's must have kicked in though, 'cos the minds seemed to have wandered......
I think you have to pay less if you are a total beginner cos the ski school costs less, nowt to do with the kit as far as I know. It might be due to less experienced instructors (I'm pretty sure its not though), or total beginners get cheaper lift passes as you won't be using them for a couple of days down on the nursery slopes.
First day is a free for all, they just ask you your boot ...
