Looking for some advice! Went skiing in Borovets start of March last had a fab time and want to try Pamporovo next year but cant go til 18th March - what are conditions like then? Was starting to thaw start of March in Boro this year? Also has anyone stayed at Hotel Zora? Taking 5 year old with us - all advice appreciated !!! (Nice to see the discussion board open)
I went 19th March this year and it was fine. OK the snow wasn't anywhere as good as it was in Feb but it was nice and quiet and no queues. I booked late knowing that there was enough snow there at the time.
Remember though that this year was an exceptional year for snow.
I don't know about the Zora. I've stayed in the Pamporovo and the Mourgavets which was far better (in my opinion) The Prespa had some good reports while I was there.
I have been 4 times in March always around 14th. Fisrt 2 times in 98/99 loads of snow 2001 not a lot at all. 2003 not bad but going fast at end of week. Last year was good though. What I am saying is it is much more hit a miss at this time of year. If you are lucky you get a nice quiet resort if not you get crap skiing!!! Me I am going next year in Jan not taking the chance!
Thanks Dave and Daniel for the advice- unfortunately I cant go any other time so I will probably take a chance - would any other resorts be a better bet I wonder? No my daughter went to the kindergarten at the Rila this year which put her off for life (awful place!) will prob try to arrange some tuition while there privately
Private tuition can be arranged for about £10 per hr ( on a 1 to 1 basis) great value for money. How old is your daughter ? Mine was 5 and had a whale of a time. She bombed the botton half of the green run albeit on the instructors shoulders.
How about it in early Feb - is the snow ok then. Also nightlife and good restaurants are pretty important to our group - I'm reading differing reports about how good it is. Was in livigno last year - would it match up to there??
My daughter will be 5 - not sure now what to do Bansko sounds good too! Have heard kindergarten good there ? Just want to book so I have something to look forward to when reading the boards and checking out the web cams - how sad am I !!!!
Even though I love Pamps ( due to nightlife and not having been to the other resorts) I would advise you to go to Bansko so late in the season. The top of the lump is a bit higher than Pamps and should have a bit more snow on it. After personal experience (twice) I would not subject my daughter to Pamporovos kindergarten again. I have heard nothing negative about Bansko's kindergarten but I would also not use it due to experience in pamps.
If your daughter will be 5 try to get her to ...

If your daughter will be 5 try to get her to ski. If you don't arrange for her to go into the Junior Ski Club (of which I have not heard any reports) you will lose a fair bit of your own skiing time and you will need a private instructor for her but hey, what a reward when you see her shooting down the slopes with a giant grin on her face. I have heard though that Bansko is not so good for beinners as Pamps is due to steepness of the slopes but then again I haven't been there to experience it.
If I was you I would re-post any further questions so that they appear at the top and don't get lost. Or log in to www.skidvd.co.ok for more info.
