Pamps.tipping ski instuctors

I was speaking to a ski instructor from the main ski school during my visit 16th Jan 2010,and in conversation he made comment that on one of the previous weeks not one of the instructors who were operating out of the crystal ski depot in pamps recieved a tip from their group.
These guys r paid little i believe 50 euros per week they depend on making up there wages from the tips. so if u r in a ski group with ski school in the past it has been normal practice to put 2gether a group ...

I agree totally... a group of 8-10 people each tipping even just 20lv each makes a world of difference to these guys... it is discretionary but when you look at how much you're actually paying for the lessons you're getting a bargain, a tip is nothing on top by comparison to what you would pay just for lessons in the alps... or even indoors in the uk!

When I was in Borovets 8 years ago with my family we had our own instructor and at the end of the week gave her about £50 which, she suggested, was somewhere near to a weeks pay at that time. (Not sure if that is correct or she was just trying to make us feel good about it).

However, a larger group (including a guy called Buddy and his son) had an instructor who I think was called X. They all thought he was brilliant and at the end of the week chipped together and gave him £200 (remember ...

However, a larger group (including a guy called Buddy and his son) had an instructor who I think was called X. They all thought he was brilliant and at the end of the week chipped together and gave him £200 (remember this was 8 years ago). It meant so much to him that he actually cried. Money well spent I would say.

If you are happy with your instructor dig deep in your pockets, it can make a huge difference to them and their families.

The funny thing about Buddy who I mentioned above is that he was a great guy on the Apres ski and I never knew him before we met in Borovets. He was from Leicester, I am from Bromsgrove, and one year later we bumped into each other again at St. Andrews stadium at Party in the Park.

Small world!!!

Buddy, if you're listening, stick a post on here mate.

Its the same in Borovets - The instructors make up their money from the tips.

They are excellent guys and well deserve a tip - Well the instructors we have skied with anyway.

re: Pamps.tipping ski instuctors

i've allways tipped in Pamps, think of it this way.......if they work hard they will be rewarded, if they don't give a damm then they won't. you can use tipping to your advantage by hinting that you will be tipping at the end of your week, then watch the service you recieve improve.
Don't be tight tip.
Don't be rude reward.
Don't be offensive appreciate.

Why was thier a comment that I read about this earlier today removed?..their was no abusive lanuage used...absolutley nothing that I nor most would deem 'inappropraite'. I have started to notice anything that may be remotely negative about any of the resorts posted on here are being removed...now, I say negative not 'inappropriate'. The moderators and who ever else run this forum are removing these comments to paint a pretty picture for thierselves, even though tourists come on to this site looking to gain some good HONEST non-corrupted infromation and hope to be able to read un-tampered information. Such a shame the forum is not being run in a way where every one gets to voice thier opinions wheather they are negative or positive.

Alright 'wake up', I totally agree and I think that reaction from 'philipf' just about sums up what you are saying...nothing negative can be posted and for the couple of hours it remains on the forum it is attacked with agressive posts. I dont see why he is also questioning whether or not your from Belfast...maybe he will say the same about me as well!!!...after all Belfast with a population of around 300,000 (rough estimate) could not possibly have more than one person who happens to have ...
