In Bulgaria -- needy means complete outsider and it is worst.

Mogliano (the home in the film) is going to be closed - if it hasn't been already. The director quit, the kids got assessed by nutritionists and got more food, some went to hospital for feeding up and fixing stuff and UNICEF have a couple of people in there trying to sort it out. Of course, the danger is that you push the problem to another place, but this film seems to have landed a useful blow against the state incompetence.

That film was a real eye opener and certainly leaves a lump in your throat.

My worries with giving monies etc is that it doesn't get to the really needy but taken with gratitude and spent elsewhere.

Pete is it possible to buy something they need and donate it?

I say this because the director of that home was only intrested in getting a bloody computer. Probably heard of Ebay

Pete, I thought people may be interested in the above site, it gives people alternatives of how they may help. Unfortunately I don't have any notes at the moment. It also says that the programmes will be shown again on BBC4 at 2300 hours on 12 Dec 2007 for anyone who missed it.
