As I said in an earlier post, as people return the reports will vairy drastically.
Some will say the worst holiday they've ever had, some will say the best holiday they've ever had - and that is sharing the same week, at the same resort, in the same hotel.
It's all down to what we each expect from our holidays.
I am in Bansko on 27th Jan and I know I will have the best time ever - as after 22 visits to Bulgaria I have never had a bad day there yet!
1st time for me this year in Bansko. Really looking forward to it. I have read so many good reports from the national press over the last 2 years from experinced writers praising the resort and saying how good it will be in the future I cna't wait to find out for myself.
As Pet say's everyone has different expectations of BG I have been 5 times to Pamps so I know what to expect. It aint perfect I know that. I lot of the negative reports at the moment are I believe down to frustration at ...

Also if I can add too many people go to Bulgaria and try to compare it to western europe standards and when it does not live up to it they really get the hump.
What people have to realise is the country is still new to mass tourism and customer service is not something that they have grown up with. It will take time for it to improve.
Look at us our service levels are still way behind that say of the USA.And complaints of poor food in Mehannas? Well holy cow not every place you eat in ...

Well holy cow not every place you eat in will be good, I have lost count of the amount of poor so called "Gastro Pub" meals I have had here with poor service thrown in as well. I fact the only time I can guerantee truly execptional service is when I go to one of Mr Ramsey's establishments!! But that is a whole different ball game.
Me and Mrs Griffin are heading to Bansko on the 27th and are too staying at the Lion. Sharing a hotel with the legend that is Pamporovo Pete. Wow.
PS Some people (especially english) are born complainers! A holiday is what you make it. Thesepeople comimg back from bansko complaining about ques, go earlier or later!
1st time Bansko this year for me too Dan

yes, it was not so great to ski on very icy slopes this year (in Austria) but ey, there were still many chalets/hutte to have had a drink and enjoyed the wonderfull views..
*those wienerschnitsels were still good
Ah as long the company is good, nothing can go wrong!
huh?
Now in fairness peter, my friend, is not a complainer by nature.
But in the queues the problem seemed to be that the eastern european men were pushing and shoving their way to the front. Apparently it got quite rough at times.
The Lion Hotel is lovely, far outweighs the Murgavets I had a room on my own on the top floor it had three beds and the hugest bathroom the staff are really nice, only draw back is the beauty room if your missus wants a facial tell her its done in the reception of the beauty room, with everyone walking past so not much of a relaxation facial... but a really nice and really clean hotel, it has a disco attached which I never went in but it apparently was buzzing a few nights, on the first ...

Bansko is fine for sking, the snow cannons are all geared up and there was enough snow all week (christmas week), I hear new Years week they had even more runs open the queues on the gondola were the biggest nightmare New Year but Christmas there were no problems so reckon they will be fine again now the festive season is behind us.
I have to say having always been to pamps I was impressed with Bansko, they do some things better some things worse but all in all I think I preferred Bansko the standard of accomodation was better and there are more ski runs....
