Plovdiv flights??

I've been to travel agents today and asked about flights to Plovdiv, and the agent rang Crystal and was told that flights would be finalised by the end of March for next season and would include Plovdiv as an option in Bulgaria for next winter. Balkan were non committal but it is assumed they will also supply this as an option.
Good news for all us Pamporovoites Smile

re: Plovdiv flights??

I don't think Balkan will change back to Plodiv as Sofia offers better facilities & a shorter transfer to Bansko which is their main resort. I fear Pamporovo will suffer next year because of this. Plus it good news for Borovets as they have the shortest transfer from Sofia Wink

re: Plovdiv flights??

with a new terminal opening this Summer, Plovdiv should appeal to most of the airlines I would've thought. It's the 2nd biggest city in the country, it will inevitably improve in the near future.

re: Plovdiv flights??

Hi Steve d, I agree with you on this. When Plovdiv airport is completed, Pamporovo will definite be an attractive resort option. Also, when the Greece border crossing is finally completed and open, flights into Zakynthos (Greece) will be another option.

This mean that the transfer time from both airports will be approximately 1.5 hours. It will be interesting to see which airlines will use Plovdiv next year.

In reverse, this also means that days by the Aegean Sea will also be possible with a 1.5 hour drive from the Pamporovo area. I believe the border is due to be open in August this year.

re: Plovdiv flights??

There are already flights into Kavala, Greece which is 80km away from Smolyan. So when the Greeks finally pull their finger out it will open a lot more opportunities

re: Plovdiv flights??

You may be right Dan the Man - don't know much about Greece but I was told Zante was the nearest airport Crying and when I put Zante into Google it came up wth Zakynthos!

Perhaps, like Arron says, it is Kavala and not Zakynthos - allow me a blonde moment here Confused
