It's a fact of life pp, it matters not where in the world it is, as soon as the 'level playing field' arrives prices go up.
It's not a problem just a fact, in the meantime, reap what you can now!
Supply and demand...
As skiing in Bulgaria gets more popular every year and more people want to go then so prices will rise along with the demand.
This will happen regardless of EEC membership.
Simple economics.
On the plus side some of the extra money we spend holidaying will go back into the local economy as new hotels are built and resorts expanded and more locals will be employed locally.
pete baz has some good points there i dont totally agree but i live in newquay im a single parent doing 2 jobs 1 job i have to try and work with poles and others who cant speak english it hacks me off , the boss wont take on full time brits its wrong.
Yea, maybe you're right. Lets just do what we've always done for thousands of years. Lets just go over there and enjoy ourselves for as little as possible, and to hell with the people the poverty and the unemployment......... I'm alright Jack!!!!!!!
Lets kick every country out of the EEC and then we can have it all.
Bulgarian doctors and nurses saved my life this summer, working 18 hours a day, 7 days a week!!!!!
but hey, sod them, lets keep them poor and with no future.
Do you not ...

Do you not see that the opprtunities for US to export more will give us much more than we give them AND THAT'S A FACT!!!!!!!!
I seem to remember my posting of this very suspicion being basically thrown out of court by some forum members saying that it will be a long time in coming round! Looks like that theory has been well and truly buried-stopliving in denial guys!
Prices will indeed rise but i can only think this will help develop the resorts and particularly the piste areas which no matter how you look at it, severly lack behind standards of the alps.

Personally i prefer Bulgarian hospitality to the french, italians austrians etc (although that wouldnt be hard) and i would quite happily pay a little more for my ski trips if a noticable improvment was made to the skiing facilities.
All the Best Bulgaria - But as i said about a month back, GET THE LAST FEW CHEEPIES IN NOW GUYS!!!
Are you seriously trying to tell me that Bulgarians are not after our money only, will not try to rip us off at every opportunity but instead love us because we are Brits? I mean, really! A Galup study of 70 contries has just come out showing that Bulgaria is one of the three countries in Europe (the other two being Turkey and Serbia) which demonstrate the highest dislike of foreigners who have settled there. A Galup study of 70 contries has just come out showing that Bulgaria is one of the three countries in Europe (the other two being Turkey and Serbia) which demonstrate the highest dislike of foreigners who have settled there. Only 7% of Turks treat immigrants positively and Bulgaria is around there as well. In comparison, 50% of all Americans are positive towards immigrants and I dare say we are quite positive as well. Not that other nations return the favour, mind you - they not try to dominate us but also rip us off at the first opportunity.
As far as Bulgarians are concerner, they should just off their bums and improve their own coutnry, not rely on free handouts from us or come here to take our jobs away from us.
I would only comment from personal experience, i am not saying that there is no aversion to Brits in BG. Lets be honest, we have carved their country up after two world wars being as they were allies of the germans.
i would not say though that the overall feeling is that of dislike, more a feeling of mistrust. This would come more from your normal citizen who take it from me work incredibly long hours in any work available just to survive. There is no social state to speak of so they have ...

i would not say though that the overall feeling is that of dislike, more a feeling of mistrust. This would come more from your normal citizen who take it from me work incredibly long hours in any work available just to survive. There is no social state to speak of so they have to, to accuse them of sitting on their behinds is a bit harsh. My friends family live in a small village an hour out of Varna, his father was an engineer in the boatyards and his mother a teacher. Both are retired relying on the state for any income because their working years were in the the time of the communist rule. They survive on about £35.00 a month for two, live in a one bedroom house with no bathroom or kitchen, very basic living by any standards. They both require medication but because of their financial situation have to alternate monthly as drugs cost. The winter months are worse as they must buy firewood and their garden cannot supply the food as it does in the summer, they have some chickens and a couple of sheep which makes them wealthy by their villages standard...
Consider that these are ex-professional people, they welcomed us into their home, shared their food and drink, relayed stories of the past and their hopes for the future. Take it from me, there was no talk of ripping the EU off, more of what direction their goverment might take with EU assistance, their concerns highlighted small farming communities where people are actually dying through poor sanitation, health care and incredibly poor standard of living. The bulk of the population live in such areas, if we cannot support initially with financial help to build their infrastructure then the likely problems to Europe could be worse as people flee the country to find a life elsewhere. Those i have spoken to do not want to leave, they love their country, they are proud and are willing to work to build it, all they are asking (the goverment) is for a hand up...
I suggest Baz that you visit, spend some time out of the resorts and see how the real Bulgarians actually live, perhaps then you may have a perspective to comment from...
