Just back from Pamps and had a great holiday despite no skiing due to crutches and have to join in above debate. I love Bulgaria and Pamps in particular and will only stop skiing there when it stops having snow.

Prices have increased substantially and in the main this seems to be a conspiracy between taxi drivers and a monopoly of bars and restaurants by a few dominant players.

You can avoid the main offenders and enjoy great food, drink and atmosphere, e.g. Margaritta Pizza - in Brothers restaurant was 15 lev; in Spiders new restaurant at middle station this was 8 lev. Spiders has a superior menu the food was fantastic, interior great, fantastic toilets and excellent waiters.Ps the same pizza in Chepelare was >>>>> 3 LEV

If buying shorts ask for them to be unmixed as this is much cheaper and you know you are drinking alcohol, you could drink the mixed version all night and not get drunk. Vodka and coke averaged at 6 lev, however if bought separately vodka was 3 lev and coke 4 lev, but the plastic coke bottles serviced 5 vodka measure bringing cost to average of 4 lev when not mixed - in a group over the space of a week this can make a major difference same for G & T etc

I could only go to Middle due to being restricted to Taxi as travel. On that note - secure TAxi price before getting in, they make it seem very official by providing printed receipt, however they can boost this at the start of the fare and commonly add 5 Lev in this way. I got caught at start of the week and when I found an honest driver I kept his number.
