Bulgaria Ski discussion board

Guys i'd like to know any improvements you guys have thought of for any resort in BUG. Here are some of mine:

Bansko: piste maps showing the cliff at shilli so working out pistes in that area are easier. replacing the two Plato drags with a high speed quad, and doing the same to the three seat lift extending it to the very top so from the three main ski lift bases you can get to the peak on a high speed quad. Finally a drag could be added to the Strajite piste so it people wanting to ski more than once don't need to go right up to plato.

Boro: as Markidjuk ski area has a chairlift to allow very easy access to the 4 reds only widening and extending the Yastrebets pistes so you can ski from them to the chair or gondola very easily may classify as a very useful improvement, a chair from the gondola to the yastrebets chair base would also allow easy access.

Pamps/Chepelare: if the chair from the town to peak isn't in yet put it in, a clearer piste map plus pistes from the peak and town may also be to skiers interest. the valley between the mechi chal and snejanka piste is home to skoikite village, a piste from mechi chal to it and a lift up there would link the two ski areas together. then maybe a gondola ending/starting at the two peaks and having a mid station in pamporovo resort would allow easy access. Finally pistes from mechi chal to pamporov would secure this area as the saalbeck -Hinterglemm of the balkans. (maybe with under piste cooling)

Vitosha: the only thing this resort needs is the replacement of all the old lifts. the dragveograd chair and the simeonov gondola could both be replaced with shiny new six seater gondola's. the lale lift could become a high speed quad along with the romanski lift, the latter could be extended to go to the very top.the pomagalski and zaeka drags could be replaced with triple chairs increasing the resorts lift capacity drastically. finally pistes parallel to the new gondolas could be made allowing people to ski into sofia.

KOM: carry on with its expansion plan.

Dobri: a gondola to just south of Goce Delchev , from here a chair to odminski vrah and a piste following the ridge with pistes down to two lower pistes that all end in goce delchev with a piste from here down to the village. at bezbog hut a aerial tramway could go up to the peak with pistes going down to the hut. a piste from odminski vrah could go down to the lake.

i'd like to hear your ideas of resort improvements.

James, fair ideas in all areas... My interest is Bansko and my views are as follows..
Agree with update of Platato lifts, and extension and upgrade of Shilli 3 man chair...
How about cutting an access piste around Todorka to open up the back of Todorka. Natural gulleys and all above the tree line and with a gradient of around 30 degrees could allow two reds to be pisted, both meeting in a single piste down in Banderitsa and ending half way up Tomba ???
A valley run down to Damenitsa from the Todorka bowl, it would require a chair or drag to link with Challin Valog from the end of the path down from the Damenitsa hut...
The obvious, re-open Akidemika ???
And i still believe that if Challin Valog nursury slopes could be accessed from the town by lift, then it would relieve the gondola...
