RIP OFF BORO???

Surely we cannot blame Boro for making a living? Look what we are comparing their prices to, ie we are involving weak £ in the equation which is not entirely their fault. If we compare the last few years 50p beer to this years, there is bound to be a change. Can we compare beer in this country at 2.50 being about right and in Boro 1 to 4 averaging about 2.5? Then we can start to bring currencies into it Exclamation I know which beer i would rather be drinking...........

Just another way of ...

re: RIP OFF BORO???

As i haven't been to Boro before the prices that are being mentioned sound quite good to me.
I think if you can go away for a week and spend less than you do at home then it's a winner.
I do understand that if you go to the same place year after year that you do notice the difference more so.
I'm sure we'll have a great time and spend alot less than we do going to the lakes for a long weekend for instance.
Roll March 1st!!!!! Very Happy Booze Booze

re: RIP OFF BORO???

Just got back from Boro. What I would say about prices...£1.60 (4 lev) for a can of coke in the resort (ie not on the slopes) is expensive in anyone's language!

re: RIP OFF BORO???

In comparison - a small bottle of water in Saltsberg airport on Saturday was 5 Euros!

re: RIP OFF BORO???

Tipster - No idea where that was, but would be interesting to know. I was in Borvets from the 12th-19th Jan and never paid more than 1.5lv for a 500ml bottle of coke in the resort.

Although I did get ripped off in a supermarket by the Samakov Hotel (small one with four steps leading up to it), 6lv for a pack of ciggies and a bottle of coke (should have been 4.70 and wouldn't have paid it but I was ddesperate and they were the only ones who had Marlboro Lights!!!) but spoke with our feet ...

re: RIP OFF BORO???

I think 4 lev for a beer is expensive for Bulgaria. OK, it's a resort, but you will only pay 1.50 for it in Samakov, and Aimmee in the Alpina (the only place in Boro with it down at 1.80) says they buy it in at 40 lev for a 30 litre keg. 60 beers to 1 keg @ 4 levs a shot = takings of 240 levs and 200 in profit!

OK, the £ is weak at the mo, but if you compare like with like, 2 years ago a beer was about 2 lev, last year 3 lev, this year 4 lev. That's a 100% increase in 2 years. That's steep.

re: RIP OFF BORO???

Johnno - that was the restaurant prices so we were forced to pay it for lunch and dinner. I agree, it was chaper in the supermarket, but I don't think the restaurant owners would of been too happy with us drinking supermarket bought drinks at their tables Confused

I found the whole place to be a bit of a rip off. Not hugely expensive by comparison with the UK, but by compariosn with Samokov town 10km away. No excuse for the difference in the prices.
